Need some advise
« on: Jan 19, 2011, 02:39PM »
Hey guys I just took my Air box lid off and found what looks to be oil lining the walls and sitting in the bottom of the box.It wasnt much but it was enough to make me a little worried that this may have gone up into the fuel system and stuff :(
Is this Very bad? or just a normal think on a KA?

not 100% on these cars but its usually a sign of excessive blowback (compression leaking past the rings, common on worn engines and causes compression/power loss). If you pull the rocker/oil cap when running dose it pump out Heaps of air or even spittle oil with it?

it shouldnt be worn seeing the engine and gearbox was only done like a yr and a half ago so the engine shouldnt be worn.Could it have something to do with the ECU? cause pretty sure thats screwed.
Nah havent tried taking the oil cap off wene its running.

It could be wearing prematurely if the engine builder was shit, if you've been flogging it's tits off when cold or using shitty oil.

I am not familiar enough with these cars to know if its the ECU but i highly doubt it. Dose the car run well or is it lacking power?

What kind of air filter are you running? Stock paper type or an oiled type like a K&N?

If it's an oiled type, that is your problem. Nothing to worry about. My K&N used to do something similar over time.

I seen those filters in supercheap the other week, there a scar heavy duty filter, although not the oiled type. Could be wrong but it looks very familiar.
