Nah, my uhh... 'rack' is out of commission, it's all wobbly and stuff :P

I have a master cylinder, but it's been sitting out in the rain for a year. Want me to check it out for you? $30 plus postage is about what I'd want for it.

It came out of a GL Corsair, so it should almost definitely fit in your GLi.

Give me a week or so to check it out for you.

I can't find it dude, I found the booster which has a big section of stripped paint down the front of it - so it did leak.

Best bet would probably be to get a brake and clutch specialist to resleeve your existing one. Should only cost about $150-200.

Most places use stainless sleeves when they resleeve cylinders, which means they'll never rust out again. Well worth it over a standard item.

This is  an awesome thread, still no where in ACT to get parts though. We had a jap parts but he apparently was not paying the gov so he got axed. I needed seats for the front of my TRX recently and I ended up driving to goulburn to get a pair of Corsair Ghia seats, Paid $75 for the pair.

Phone book ? I agree thats what these forums are for, to help the nis and dat nuts out there.

Keep it coming ;D

Great list that cut out the first headache of a job for me, Noss.

I called everyone under Victoria on your list and I can confirm that:

- Datswreck no longer do wrecking. They might do other stuff, but sounded like he wanted the number taken off the internet!
- Nissall motor wreckers' number is disconnected, did not do a net search to see if they are still in business.
- Best Jap number is also disconnected, ditto above.
- ML Wreckers have now closed down - land line is disconnected (this info came from the guy who answered the mobile).
- RCB Performance number takes you to the parents of the guy who used to run that business, which is now defunct (however they have a few parts lying around in the garage!).
- None of the rest have a starter motor for an Attesa manual. Two might have one for an auto, one of these, far away, reckons he might be able to find a manual one based on looks if I bring-in mine.

Hope this helps in some way...

thanks for the feedback.. and yes agreed that the list is pretty old. i myself have tried to have a look through some of the queensland and south australia places that used to be quite good in the past and the majority are now non existent.

i'll update the victorian list with your feedback though 573LF

i've just gone through the listings for all states that have websites, i have removed the listings where the websites no longer work. i won't bother calling all the places on the list. if anyone has any feedback on wreckers that no longer exist or new ones that have popped up, let me know and i'll modify the list in the OP.

you can always try http://www.autorecycle.com.au/ and do a search on their site for registered wreckers.

or if you're me and you own a euro car now, these guys http://eurocarparts.com.au are generally very helpful, but i've found you can order non-genuine new parts from overseas cheaper than they sell 2nd hand parts.
