ticking noise....
« on: Jan 31, 2003, 03:03PM »
ok, here is the deal, i have lately had this ticking noise which i orignally thought was the timing chain on its way out & gave it no further attention as i thought that i'd have to save the cash for a timing chain, however, last nite while out on the road with adamj, i got him to listen to the ticking noise as i drove along, and we came to the conclusion that the noise was of spark getting to somewhere other than it should be  (i.e. arcing to the head) however, when i let my car idle & pop the hood, i cant see this arcing occuring anywhere, does anyone have any suggestions as to where else i should look? or maybe another suggestion as to what the ticking noise is?

check for cracks in the spark plugs themselves (porcelan bit)
check under rotorcap
and put multimeter on your leads to check for leakage
What is the point of a signature, who REALLY reads it??

Noss already knows this, but for anyone else, it is caused by a low oil level.  :)
