help needed finding accomodation
« on: Oct 29, 2008, 09:28PM »
I put this here because nobody will see it in the victoria section lol.

I'm planning on going to the f1 grandprix next year with a group of friends. I want to find some accomodation close to the city or in the city. I'm struggling finding info on where I can look (i've never done this before), flights are easy, and tickets to the f1, but it's finding a place to stay that's an issue.

Any of you guys know any websites or something?

Cheers,
Chris.

ahaha thanks snail

i don't really have a budget, but my mates do, obviously not paying 2k for accom. I had a look on wotif. found f1 hotel for 120 a night for 4! that's cheap!

i worked it out, for flights return, accom for 7 days and f1 4 day pass it worked out to be around 500.

who else from here is going?

who else from here is going?

i may go, actually had planned to go to singapore next year, but after hearing that The Who are goin to play for free im thinking about it now

Quote
The Who to play at 2009 Australian Grand Prix

Legendary British rock band The Who will perform a spectacular concert at the 2009 Australian Grand Prix, organisers have announced. It follows this year’s show by Kiss at Albert Park.

In their only Melbourne tour date, The Who, who have sold over 100 million albums and won every major award including Grammies, Brit Awards and Lifetime Achievement honours, will perform hits including ‘Who Are You’, ‘Substitute’, ‘My Generation’, ‘Pinball Wizard’ and ‘You Better You Bet’.

Lead singer Roger Daltrey, 64, and guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend, 63 (the last two surviving members of the original foursome), will be joined on stage by long-time members Simon Townshend (guitar), Zak Starkey (drums), Pino Palladino (bass) and John ‘Rabbit’ Bundrick (keys).

“We can’t wait to get there,” said Daltrey. “We hope a load of you turn out to see us. It’s a bloody long way to go, but you’re worth coming to.”

“This is a special occasion for us to come and be with you guys at the time of the Grand Prix,” added Townshend. “KISS did it last year and we hear they played to big crowds, but we hope to see an even bigger crowd when we hit Melbourne in March.”

Anyone with a valid ticket to the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, 29 March will be able to see The Who concert at no extra cost.

I'm probably gonna go. Its depending on if my mate can get time off work to head down. We'd be staying with his family.

I recommend from past experience: if you don't have Grandstand tickets to take a portable radio with ear buds and then wear ear muffs over that, 'cause when the F1 cars are screaming past you can't hear the commentary for shit from the track speakers, and you won't always get a decent view of the screens.

If I do go then this time around i'll be aiming for grandstand tickets, the paddock is okay, but I had trouble getting a decent spot to see the action (also mighta been 'cause I got there with only 10 minutes to spare on race day with a massive hangover)

I can justify spending extra on the tickets 'cause I don't have to pay for accomodation.

I tend to avoid the F1GP, it suffers gaids.

Tried Bayview on the Park? Stayed there once before, was nice, right across the road from Albert Park too.

Lol, how about no, the wife and sister-inlaw have a few gayboy friends, perhaps you can hook up with one of them? rofl

In all seriousness, i'm right down on the southern end of the peninsula, it's about an hour and a bit away from Albert park, so it all depends on how long you're going to be in melb for. I may even have done something remotely interesting on the black car if i stop being such a lazy douche.

I'll probably be in melbourne for a week and abit, I'd like to go down earlier to enjoy melbourne before I get stuck into the F1. If you think F1 has gaids you should see bathurst LOL. I think F1 is quite classy compared to bathurst hahah

Thanks for help boys! and yes, sop being lazy  :P :P
