I bought a '91 Pintara Ti in 2003 which had a TRX Bodykit on it and a few other custom mods.

SWEET!!! ANOTHER TI!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

as i said earlier, welcome aboard... as for it being a Ti with a TR.X kit, i know of only two in exsitance so, its either a two tone silver one, or a light blue over grey one (which i only found out about recently)...
would be great to see some pictures, and look forward to cruising with you (once i get my licence back  :-\)

Hi everyone - my real name is lachlan. I'm current'y driving my second 1987 Pintara GX to and from Albury/Sydney trip, and halfway through my P's. Love the car. I blew the head gasket of the first sedan model and bought a wagon gx that absolutely sh#tted on the sedan.
$450 inc. rego got me a wagon with 103,000k's and very minor rear bumper damage (granny car).
Unfortunately since then my dad and i have both managed to damage the poor car so one panel is slightly more factory than the others.

My pride and joy $3500 Kenwood sound system was stolen a month or so ago and i've just replaced it with a very cheap $750 Boss system. MP3 - 70+100+150+(200sub)RMS. Having fun painting it at the moment. It's named Pandora (written down the side in a basic stencil.

So yah, got class now!

see yall

don't know how she does it, but she's still going.

Hi I'm Nick, 19, from Goulburn NSW
I drive a silver ca20 powered '90 Corsair GL. I recently bought it with:
(I think) 2.5" cat back exhaust,
extractors.
autotechnica steering wheel
racing seats.
$800 sony headunit (dunno which one it didn't come with a manual, but its flippy and whatnot) and pioneer speakers. no subs at the moment.
I got it all up for a grand with 222000 k's on it and brand new tyres.

the previous owner gave it a bit of a thrashing and it blows a little smoke when it starts up, but it goes away when the engine is nice and warm. I'm changing the valve stem seals in the coming week (picked a full set up for $26) so that problem (hopefully) goes away soon. I'm really hoping its not the valve guides as well :S wish me luck.
I also plan to maybe put a higher flow air filter on at some point and maybe some 16" wheels.
oh yeah, I really know nothing about cars compared to most of you guys. so any suggestions/hints would be grateful.

i'll probably take some photo's and put them up here at some point. heck, I might even put a 'how to' for changing your valve stem seals.. though I've never actually seen under the cover of a ca20...

From what you've said the $1000 sounds very well spent!

Oh and welcome :)

Sounds like you're jumping in the deep end with changing your stem seals but getting in and doing things the best way to learn! Have fun with it mate and if you have any problems with it don't hesitate to ask.

thanks guys and or girls. I searched and found a helpful guide to changing your head which saved me from pulling open my engine just to see how it all goes. The job shouldn't be too hard, just need the right tools. If I ever muck up I've got my engineer of a father to save me ;)

I've heard of people feeding rope into the cylinder to hold a valve up when changing valve springs before. It might be something to keep in mind if you don't want to remove the head.

um... that sounds a little dodgy... but I guess when you don't have the tools you have to make do with what you have.
what I'm going to do, is I'm going to get an old spark plug and drill that out. then connect the air compressor to that. I had to do the same with my old Toyota Corona...
its also what the FSM (god bless whoever put that online here) says to do.
(I should make a whole thread dedicated to my car I think... so I don't clog up this thread)

Didn't really want to spam this thread, so there's another with a picture. .. the only one I have unfortunately.

I have a Nissan Gazelle, CA20E powered, S12 model (as opposed to import-only S11's or later leopard-based stuff).
Lots of kays, lots of little problems. At the moment I'm desperate for a new motor and box! Problems somewhere down there that will cost more to fix than the money required for a generic old CA20E and box...

Hello all.
Name is Steve, I've just bought a manual 91 Pintara T Superhatch, red, fairly high k's, but mechanically still in very good nick.
I used to own a TRX about 6 years ago, and due to circumstances beyond my control, I was forced to sell it. I've been wanting another Pintara since then, and I finally have one again.  :)
Just got back from my first decent drive in the new one and now remember vividly why I have wanted one again.
They really are a very good car to drive, comfortable, well equipped, but I'm probably preaching to the converted here, huh?
I have for the last couple of years been driving an EB Falcon, which at this point is quite heavily modified, but decided with the increasing cost of fuel and my changing driving habits, that another 4-pot was the way to go.
Still got the Falcon, will be continuing to modify it, but will use the Pintara as a daily.
Which isn't to say it won't also be modified. Lowering and exhaust will be done in the next couple of weeks, along with car audio. Central locking and cruise control won't be long after, and from there, well, we will see. :)
Already got a great deal of info off the forums, have in fact been reading them for some time, it is a brilliant resource, already had a lot of my questions answered.
I look forward to participating more!

Ian here. Been lurking for a while and this is my very 1st post, haha.

Got a 92 red U12 with a CA motor (AT) with some 16" shoes. Everything's pretty much stock (well almost) I guess except for the driver  :P
Some mods though:
RS Jasma muff
421 extractors (custom)
2.25" pipes
Pod WAI filter
Pioneer DEH3650MP
Blaupunkt seps and speakers (nothing loud)

The car's been with the fam since 92 but I've been using it for 4 yrs now. And I'm mostly a DIY guy (except for some big repairs where I kinda need to haul it off to a shop). Learned a lot of things bout this baby from here (and from another Nissan site from where I live - manila). Hope I'm welcome! :)

Here are some pics: (Will post more as soon as i've time off from work)
