Title: Need some advice
Post by: TRX81 on Sep 25, 2009, 05:04PM
Hey Lads
In the U12 Pintara's on the dash where the digital clock is   when i turn my lights on it doesn't high light green, the clock itself still works just the background doesn't highlight in green when you turn ya car lights on..  would it be a blown bulb or fuse ?     is this easy to fix or have you gotta pull the dash out?

Cheers
Matthew

unfortunately, sounds like a broken bulb, and yes... it's a big job to fix it.

OK so here's a question... anyone figured how to change the bulb to say a blue LED? I hate the green.

Would be fairly straight forward. Take out the green piece of plastic between the LCD and globe and either use led instead of globe. Or use a * insert colour here * coloured plastic, lighting gel etc to go between the globe and LCD.

It's a bit more than a 4-screw job.

You need to remove the bottom dash fascia panel (with all the switches and cigarette lighter in it), and the black 'gauge surround bit', then unscrew the clock off the back of that.

I recently pulled my dash out to get to the cluster.    It's a lot of bloody screws, I lost count, and the bit you remove to get access to the clock is one of the last pieces to remove...
