ive been looking at lowered springs and shocks and no where have i noticed that they are to suit 2.0 or 2.4 motors ,different weights between the two, obviously if you put 2.0 springs in your 2.4 and it weighs  heavier it will sit lower and mess your handling up a bit more (if there is much weight difference,i dont know)you would have to take that into account eh?so the question remains is there seperate listings somewhere to suit different motors?or is there sweet ftyk all difference between the two? it's got me mind thinking.

monroe shocks stock the same part for 4 cylinder R31 Pintara as they do for 6 cyl R31 Skyline.
I'm so far behind at work, I'm almost retro!

Wowzers that would be a big weight difference between the CA20 and the RB30 and they stock the same part number for them both, they should test and research for differences like that.another weird one would be if they stocked the te cortina 2.0 the same as the 4.1 model ,big weight difference.i had a 180b once and put 78 c210 skyline front struts (L28)in it and the lighter motor of the 180b wasnt heavy enough to keep it down and the front tyres were running on the inside part of the tread.so i went back to the originals, but i later found out i needed lowered springs to suit.

there is no difference between the two engines, but there is a difference for the hatch compared to the sedan for the rear only. if you're car is too low, you'll get too much camber and your tyres will wear out on the insides like you have just mentioned.. so yeh extra engine weight as you said, makes the car lower, pushes the wheels out.. bad wear.. sounds about right.

I googled "kings springs" and looked up the kings springs catalogue and it lists the pintara-corsair low sprigns front  sedan and hatch as being the same serial numbers , the rear springs of both pintara-corsair the same part number but sedan and hatch haved different part numbers.so from looking at their catalogue the fronts are interchangable on sedans or hatches, but rears  on the sedan wont suit hatches .hope that helps tazza.

so your saying a weight difference between the engines is going to effect your handling. Its going to be minimal for on the road but camber bolts can correct the uneven tire wear. I used them when my tyres began unevenly destroying themselves.
I just going to say having diferent springs for different engines on a car model is a uneconomical idea.

Im just going by memory that holden, fords and valiants had different springs for v8 and 6 cyl models due to engine weight differences , if you put v8 springs in your 6cyl car the ride would be firmer, but could be before all the modern whizz bang components came out to help things much more easily, i dont know jack rabbit about what parts you use to over come these obstacles obviously,im going back 20 years ago when you did things on the cheap.these days there is much more info and products to help with alsorts of mods.

have you thought that maybe the ca20e and ka24e would weigh almost the same, hence not requiring different springs/spring rates?

Contraire, from the Corsair FSM, page FA-30.

Thing is though .. the whole point of aftermarket suspension is to alter height, spring rates, etc to make the car lower and stiffer (or higher .. or whatever). With this in mind, and the realatively small differences between stock springs anyway .. who cares about stock specs?
