Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

a boat without sails is worth about 5cents in my book :P

(have a look on boatpoint.com.au and the trading post for similar boats)

yeah i have

but it varies so much,

a boat smaller than mine with a smaller engine can be worth 3k and sometimes the same thing worth 8k, what the ?

Just because a boat is bigger it doesnt mean its better.  Whilst they might all look the same at first glance, there's a lot of variation in hull shapes, stability, capacities, hull speed, planing etc.. Not to mention there purpose (offshore/inshore/lakes/skiing...)

So dont just judge them by length.

that looks to be a pretty old outboard? and just cos its got a bigger engine doesnt mean shit, personally, I don't see the point of having an engine any bigger than 40hp on a boat of that size and type - any bigger will not actually increase its top speed.

oh yeah... Its defnitiely not worth any more than 4k... you'll probably struggle to get 3.5k IMHO.

Also the fin things above the prop have to be inline with the lowest part of the hull. If the fin things are below this point the boats ability is affected (stability, turning etc etc)

I would say it's worth 2-3 grand.

Sorry to hijack thread but I too am selling a boat.

17ft/5mtrs
70hp evinrude with $2000 worth of rebuild receipts.
new floor timber beams and all.
Fresh coat of paint (rta orange) and white base.
New windscreen with canopy.
strengthened transom with 4mm chequre plate.
Will or will not be registered depending on available money.
Trailer will eventually need repairing but Have started on that already.
What's it worth?
