Title: start here...
Post by: noss on Jun 30, 2005, 11:46AM
If you've recently joined antrx.com, use this area as a 'safe zone' to say 'hi' and tell others a bit about yourself. Much better than starting a new thread.

Enjoy your stay

Hey fellers.. and ladies..?

i just became a member of amtrx .. n its awesome here .. i joind cause i found it on google searchin trx's cause i own 1 now .. im 16 n i bought it with the 3300 i had in my bank .. thats what the car cost me .. its a white nissan pintara tr.x 1990 model .. im very happy with it .. the only thing slightly wrong is my timing chain needs renewing .. it is making a bad noise .. so far i have done some minior mods i have a big cannon type muffler to go on.. its a 6 inch cannon with a 4 inch outlet.. all stainless .. i got it for 70 bucks from autobarn ... good deal hey... it cost 140 i got em down haha.. and i also got a pod filter on my intake ... it was hard to put on at fitst as u still need the air control setup piece but i have managed to get it on and working .. SOUNDS WIKID!!! it sounds so much beter now and with the cannon on i will have the sweetest car in town. my car had a set of extractors on it and tints when i bought it so that doesnt need doing .. lol and the pod .. i picked it up for 10 buks of a mate.. mates rates r awesome haha .. i have stock mags on it with the front right missing a tr.x humcap .. if any 1 can help me put here with a spare maybe .. leave a post  plz .. well happy to be on the site here n yeh shes done 170 000 kilometers and im 3rd owner of the car .. lol cant wait for my l's hahah. peace.

Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Trx on Oct 30, 2005, 07:56PM
.. aww yeh and also .. when i fitted the pod i took off the air box and put it on the end of the rubber hose .. it wouldnt work the car just splutted and would stall.. i run the car with the componets of the air box pluged in. and found that the black .. air flow meter ??? whatever it is.. it would work with that connected ,,, so i have the alloy fitting there with the pod on the other side of that.. if you know hot to avoide that may u tell me here... and what does the other fitting do if you know.. it has a small plug attacthment into the side of the airbox.. it appears as some sortof sensor or tempeture device .. i am unsure can u help me out.. and also.. about the antrx chip.. i havent been able to find enough about them .. i am an electritian .. well.... on my way there and i will be able to fit this chip but can u tell me were it goes on your car and were i can read more about them... thats about it fellers... lol help me if you can thanks.

Then take the direct link to the picture, click the (http://www.antrx.com/smf/Themes/blue/images/bbc/img.gif) button and put the link between the img tags.

Hi guys, my name is richard (Dic) live in hobart tas. Like the site, found it whille surfing for info on u12's.
Own a 90 model red trx ka24, 5 speed with 362000k's and original donk. besides the high ks the body and interior are not to bad.
Although it does require a bit of work, but will make a good project car for the weekends when not working on customers cars duing the week ( motor mechanic by trade). Hey noss?, like the stickers any red ones left?
Couple of other questions, thinking (more to the point need to!) put a set of coil springs in the trx, thinking of using low front and rear king springs but has anyone tried low lovells springs? and question 2, what is the antrx ecm chip like?

cheers, Dic

Hey guys, my name's Jamie.... i'm 17 and i just got a Auto 91' U12 Pintara Exectutive **SUPERHATCH** hand-me-down from ma dad   ;D
He smashed it up about 2 years ago in a 5 car pile up and my good friends at SGIO paid for an engine rebuild (CA20E) and new front/rear body... it's very nice. Odomiter(spelling???) stopped working at 185k (The little gear has gone in it, like in a tech article on this site... currently looking for a replacement).

This site has really inspired me... i think i've caught the bug and i havn't even done anything yet :P should be fun.

Hello. I'm David. Live in Melbourne. I recently bought a 1990 ford Corsair GL (Red, 2 litre) and want to learn a bit about DIY upgrades and repairs. Before this car I lived in Japan and drove a 1991 Nissan Bluebird (white 1.8 litre auto) which somone gave me (Free!!). It was a brilliant car to drive and thats why I bought the corsair when I got back to Australia. Was very happy with it for the first 3 monthes, then it started losiong coolant. I can't find any leaks and today I noticed some white smoke in the exhaust. I guess I'll be up for a new head gasket at least... there goes my budget for upgrades...(-_;) I wonder if anyone has any advise about how to fix it myself...?
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jono on Feb 22, 2006, 09:03PM
There's actually a tech article on replacing your head gasket in the tech article submission board, it's a sub-board of the FAQ's section.

hey megan! wilcommen to this funky site. if u start to hang round here long enuf, u'll find urself spending more and more into ur broom-broom....not that that's a bad thing! oh yeah i'd HIGHLY recommend gettin JL Audio stuff - it kicks ass! (apart from the fact that i'm probably uber bias coz me all me speakers and amp r JL!  :P )

hey nathan! wilcommen to u too! "lsp edition" eh? is this much different to the "normal" T/Ti/TRX variants? interesting....

Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jono on Feb 28, 2006, 08:52PM
From the picture there it looks like it's a CA20 powered car, the steering wheel only has 2 spokes.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:12PM
i have no idea wot it is powered by.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jecks on Feb 28, 2006, 09:21PM
yup its a CA20E...
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:24PM
ok kool now i know wot it is. would je20 fitin it or better of to keep this one
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jecks on Feb 28, 2006, 09:29PM
you would be better off putting a CA18DET in there...
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:31PM
is the ca20e a 2L and ca18det 1.8L
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jecks on Feb 28, 2006, 09:36PM
yup, but the det on the end of CA18DET means, D = Double Overhead Cam, E = Elctronic Fuel Injection and T = *drum roll* Turbo  ;D
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jono on Feb 28, 2006, 09:38PM
Yeah but the CA18DET has better goodies with it, like twin cams and a turbo :D

Is the JE20 a honda engine? Honda engines face the opposite way in the engine bay and as such would cost megabucks to fit into the U12 chassis.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:39PM
ok kool just my car is a 2.4L so wot it would it be a ca20e still or wot
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:40PM
i always thought the je20 woz a silvia motor
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jecks on Feb 28, 2006, 09:42PM
hrm... i only judged your car being a CA20E from your avatar...
if its a 2.4L, then its a KA24E... nice motor (i got one ;D), if your after a turbo upgrade, you can either custom turbo it, or chuck in an SR20DET...

*also, i thought a je20 was a subaru motor...*
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 09:46PM
ok kool i wont be doin any real angine mods yet just body and interior for know, i dunno ne more its all confusin all i know is u can put one in ur car and thats bout it.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jono on Feb 28, 2006, 09:50PM
OK, if that's your car in your avatar, both of the pics have pointed to it being a CA20. First the 2-spoke steering wheel and then the (quite clearly) CA20 in your current avatar. GLi and Executive Pintaras came with the CA20E, so did GL Corsairs. All other Pintaras and Corsairs had KA24E engines. Check your car and if it has 8 spark plugs it's a CA20.

JE20 are a Honda motor found in Integras. EJ20 are a Subaru motor found in Imprezas.

Neither will fit easily into the U12, the JE20 because it faces the opposite way (pulleys on the passenger side) and the EJ20 because it's oriented north/south instead of east/west (90 degrees to the original Pintara engine)
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: nismoboi on Feb 28, 2006, 10:01PM
yea they musta had conversion kits on em or somethin.. it is a ca20e just red my compliance plates, someone told me it woz a 2.4 so soz my mistake..
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jecks on Mar 1, 2006, 08:04AM
nope... no conversion kits...
theres something you should know, there arnt terribly many 'kits' and 'bolt on' parts for the U12...

Hey mate,

Welcome to the forums, and well done on the pick up of a Ti. :) Since your from croydon, there's one in NSW but im assuming your from melbourne, been sure to check out the Victorian local chatter forums found here:

http://www.antrx.com/smf/index.php?board=9.0

As to modding your Ti, The engine is actually a KA24E :). There is also a list of "Recommended" by experiance people about what to undergo on your car depending how far you want to go, also found here:

http://www.antrx.com/smf/index.php?board=20;action=display;threadid=1373;start=0#msg13581

For a more detailed one check here:

Hope they are of good help to you for now, and remember always use the search bar before making new threads in future, you will be very much respected if you do so  ;D

Enjoy ~

G'day my name's Pete (aka dJP), 25 and I live in Bentleigh, Melbourne.

I bought a '91 Pintara Ti in 2003 which had a TRX Bodykit on it and a few other custom mods. To most of my mates' confusion I'm obsessed with my baby and I'm now on the road to making her a keeper. I've got some big plans over the next year or so to do lots of work to both the engine and the interior.

I'm the Senior Applications Developer at a Print Management company in Port Melbourne and I'm an Amateur Producer / dJ in my Spare Time.

I'm Stoked that I found antrx and hope to be a useful addition to the family!

Hi everyone - my real name is lachlan. I'm current'y driving my second 1987 Pintara GX to and from Albury/Sydney trip, and halfway through my P's. Love the car. I blew the head gasket of the first sedan model and bought a wagon gx that absolutely sh#tted on the sedan.
$450 inc. rego got me a wagon with 103,000k's and very minor rear bumper damage (granny car).
Unfortunately since then my dad and i have both managed to damage the poor car so one panel is slightly more factory than the others.

My pride and joy $3500 Kenwood sound system was stolen a month or so ago and i've just replaced it with a very cheap $750 Boss system. MP3 - 70+100+150+(200sub)RMS. Having fun painting it at the moment. It's named Pandora (written down the side in a basic stencil.

So yah, got class now!

see yall

Hi I'm Nick, 19, from Goulburn NSW
I drive a silver ca20 powered '90 Corsair GL. I recently bought it with:
(I think) 2.5" cat back exhaust,
extractors.
autotechnica steering wheel
racing seats.
$800 sony headunit (dunno which one it didn't come with a manual, but its flippy and whatnot) and pioneer speakers. no subs at the moment.
I got it all up for a grand with 222000 k's on it and brand new tyres.

the previous owner gave it a bit of a thrashing and it blows a little smoke when it starts up, but it goes away when the engine is nice and warm. I'm changing the valve stem seals in the coming week (picked a full set up for $26) so that problem (hopefully) goes away soon. I'm really hoping its not the valve guides as well :S wish me luck.
I also plan to maybe put a higher flow air filter on at some point and maybe some 16" wheels.
oh yeah, I really know nothing about cars compared to most of you guys. so any suggestions/hints would be grateful.

i'll probably take some photo's and put them up here at some point. heck, I might even put a 'how to' for changing your valve stem seals.. though I've never actually seen under the cover of a ca20...

thanks guys and or girls. I searched and found a helpful guide to changing your head which saved me from pulling open my engine just to see how it all goes. The job shouldn't be too hard, just need the right tools. If I ever muck up I've got my engineer of a father to save me ;)

Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Jono on May 5, 2006, 08:48PM
I've heard of people feeding rope into the cylinder to hold a valve up when changing valve springs before. It might be something to keep in mind if you don't want to remove the head.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: Smiley Of Terror on May 6, 2006, 12:34AM
um... that sounds a little dodgy... but I guess when you don't have the tools you have to make do with what you have.
what I'm going to do, is I'm going to get an old spark plug and drill that out. then connect the air compressor to that. I had to do the same with my old Toyota Corona...
its also what the FSM (god bless whoever put that online here) says to do.
(I should make a whole thread dedicated to my car I think... so I don't clog up this thread)

Didn't really want to spam this thread, so there's another with a picture. .. the only one I have unfortunately.

I have a Nissan Gazelle, CA20E powered, S12 model (as opposed to import-only S11's or later leopard-based stuff).
Lots of kays, lots of little problems. At the moment I'm desperate for a new motor and box! Problems somewhere down there that will cost more to fix than the money required for a generic old CA20E and box...

Hello all.
Name is Steve, I've just bought a manual 91 Pintara T Superhatch, red, fairly high k's, but mechanically still in very good nick.
I used to own a TRX about 6 years ago, and due to circumstances beyond my control, I was forced to sell it. I've been wanting another Pintara since then, and I finally have one again.  :)
Just got back from my first decent drive in the new one and now remember vividly why I have wanted one again.
They really are a very good car to drive, comfortable, well equipped, but I'm probably preaching to the converted here, huh?
I have for the last couple of years been driving an EB Falcon, which at this point is quite heavily modified, but decided with the increasing cost of fuel and my changing driving habits, that another 4-pot was the way to go.
Still got the Falcon, will be continuing to modify it, but will use the Pintara as a daily.
Which isn't to say it won't also be modified. Lowering and exhaust will be done in the next couple of weeks, along with car audio. Central locking and cruise control won't be long after, and from there, well, we will see. :)
Already got a great deal of info off the forums, have in fact been reading them for some time, it is a brilliant resource, already had a lot of my questions answered.
I look forward to participating more!

Ian here. Been lurking for a while and this is my very 1st post, haha.

Got a 92 red U12 with a CA motor (AT) with some 16" shoes. Everything's pretty much stock (well almost) I guess except for the driver  :P
Some mods though:
RS Jasma muff
421 extractors (custom)
2.25" pipes
Pod WAI filter
Pioneer DEH3650MP
Blaupunkt seps and speakers (nothing loud)

The car's been with the fam since 92 but I've been using it for 4 yrs now. And I'm mostly a DIY guy (except for some big repairs where I kinda need to haul it off to a shop). Learned a lot of things bout this baby from here (and from another Nissan site from where I live - manila). Hope I'm welcome! :)

Gday all,
My name is John, however people call me Teddy - long story. I still drive my first ever car - A '95 Bluebird SSS. I bought it 5 years ago at 100k and have driven it another 100k - in the meantime chucking in extractors and exhaust to squeeze out another 20 horsies. Put in King springs which is probably the best thing you can do for Bluey - Makes them beautiful to drive. I think they are still one of the best cars you can get, but regrettably i am selling old Bluey - So i can get another one! It pretty much came down to a choice... Buy a 200sx, or buy an Attessa with low k's, throw in a stroker kit and a massive turbo and have change left over to completely redo the ex/interior. No contest really?
For anyone interested in my U13 SSS with KA24DE it is selling for 10 grand or nearest offer. You could probably find one cheaper but i doubt youll find one nicer for that price. Cyas round,

Tedman

What kinds of mods are you wanting to do to your Pinnie? If you're after performance check out the antrx shop in the for sale section of the boards, for any other mods check out the U12 section and the technical articles.

What kind of sound system have you got in your car now?
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: kERo66 on Aug 19, 2006, 10:56PM
um because its my first car i was just planning (after reading the tech thread about mods and stuff) on pod filter, extracters and a full exhaust. my friend can hook me up with a pod for 50 dollars, but i have to save lol, and then save for the rest. as for sound i made an informed decision(badly informed with respect to my 6") i have 2 sony xplodes (6"[XS-GF1621X]) 2 kenwood 6x9s(sorry no serial for this one dad threw the box out), and a kenwood head unit (KDC-MP4029G), its really nice sound, but the xplode thats in my passenger side door makes bad noises that my audio friend says is just speaker noise, but im also planning on getting a kenwood amp and sub (i love kenwood cant believe i let the stupid sales men convince me to buy the sonys). oh and iill have more looks at the threads you suggested.

manual all the way, really pushed it today, noticed a few things that ill enquire about in the appropriate thread, oh i bought it privately(used) i think im its third owner a granny had it then a small family that got bigger were before me, its got custom spotties on it, oh and i had a ding in it already, kinda embarrasing also i might tell eventually lol, but lets just say ill be looking for a new bumper(and the metal thing that its attached to[have no idea what its called]) becuase its looks bad, ah thats about all i can think of to say atm. (sorry if some of it is inappropraite)

Hi all,

Just introducing myself, and apologising for not owning a U12 / U13  :-[

I do however own a Datsun 1600 and a Datsun 180B SSS. The reason I joined up is that I am attempting to use a KA24DE cylinder head on a Datsun 180B short motor in my 180B SSS project :o

It's possible to use the KA24E head fairly easily on the old Datsun motors by mixing and matching timing chain guides and timing covers from other model Nissan's ( specifically from a Z20 motor for those interested), and I know of a few projects "in the pipeline" using the twincam head. The main complicating factor in using the twincam head is sorting out how to mate the strange timing chain arrangement to the Datsun motor's crank sprocket  ???

Anyway, enough from me  ;D

Hey 1600dave I have seen a Z24 with a KA24E head on it with a turbo put on aswell, but 1 of the oil flow holes had to be welded up. Have fun mate, this is a great site for car enthusiests.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: 1600dave on Aug 24, 2006, 10:03AM
Yep, welding up one oil return hole at the back of the head is apparently all that's needed.

The complicating factor when using the single cam head on the smaller capacity Z-series motors (and L-series like i'll be doing) is the combustion chamber size of the KA24E head. On an L20B motor (2 litre out of 200B and Bluebird's), you only end up with about 7:1 compression. Barely acceptable even when turbo'd, and no good at all for normally aspirated. And I'm putting it on an L18 (only 1.8 litre) so it would be even less.

The KA24DE has a smaller combustion chamber, so that should be a better candidate.

And on looking at the head I got on the weekend, it's a fantastic design - cam acting directly on the valve with no rockers or anything, HUGE valves, narrow valve angle so its nice and compact - it looks to my eyes to be a better basic design than the SR20 head.

One completed KA24E head swap onto an L20B bottom end I've seen documented ended up producing 186kw on the dyno.  Not a bad effort from a mix-n-match homemade motor based on a Datsun 200B bottom end.

Good luck with the manual conversion (pretty easy if you have all the bits you need!).  Is the cage custom, or a SSS-R cage?

yes fiat and lancia are both Italian. Renaults and Peugeot's are French. but all are European. i think fiat, lancia and Ferrari were all sister company's but now fiat own Ferrari but I'm not sure about lancia now its all a little confussing but yes they were sister company's back in the day

My name is Cameron or chaos and for the last 3 days Ive spent 14hrs logged in at antrx, who needs sleep anyway.
I am located on the south side of Brizzy. I recently became the proud owner of a white 91' TRX . Its got 2.5" exhaust, extractors and the ka24e in the engine bay was apparently reconditioned 2 years ago -i have my doubts though. Unfortunately and hopfully someone could help me with this, the guy i bought it off managed to put a very nice dint in the front and rear bumpers. Thankfully thats the only majour work to put into the exterior. I live in Brisbane and i rang every wreckers in the yellow pages but could only find a rear bumper and at $175 it sounds a bit over priced to me...? Any suggestions on asking price for the u12 front and rear bumpers. I wanna get the body work sorted so i can start work on the engine. High flow cat and CAI are next up then hopfully a head swap to the ka24de, chip and performance cams. I have thought about this ALOT but any feedback is good.

Post by: Jono on Oct 26, 2006, 08:20PM
Hey Cameron, welcome to the site.

The bumpers on your car aren't hard to fix, you basically have to take the plastic skin off, straighten up the metal bar behind as best you can, then put the plastic skin back on. Then leave it parked in the sun for a few days until the bumper works its way back into shape and get the paint patched up. I've done it to my front bumper a couple of times  ::)

Check out the Qld section of the site, we should be organising another meet soon, you should come meet the gang!

What part of the southside are you from? I'm from daisy hill.

Well, another NEWBIE...

I just found this site on google while i was looking for info on pintara's and so i joined - its awesome! so anyway I'm Rhys from Brissy and i own a white 1991 Pintara T sedan, at first i wasn't to keen on it but i really think this is a pretty great car now that i have had it for around two weeks. the cars in pretty good Nick except for two random rattles and a little fadding on the paint work which was fixed with heavy duty cut and polish and a three step wax kit ;D - it shines now. I dont really plan any great mods except for things like wheels and tyres until i get the money rolling in, but at the moment its super stock with the stock rims and even stock radio  :D wooooo. anyway just thought that i should introduce myself in here first to get myself out there and will hopefully be posting soon.

Hey hey! My name's Simon, I'm 19. I drive a '92 U12 Pintara GLi. It's far from anything special, but when I brought it, it was in pretty good nick, with only 82,700km on the clock when I got it in Feb this year. Oh, by the way, I'm in the south-east side of Melbourne.
The front of the car has a few stone chips as well as the windshield, but the paint is in pretty good condition.

It came with with a small aftermarket muffler, JVC speakers, a green numberplate light, and some tiny 15'' 8 spoke wheels.

Since then I've put in:
- Kenwood MP3 player
- Got some gas shockers and struts (the ride is nice and firm now!)
- Put in a Tachometer
- And had the gearbox and cluth replaced.

Oh, I nearly forgot! My car produces a tiny 58.6Kw at around 5,600RPM :P ...I think.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to spending alot of time here  ;D

I'm Ellen from Qld. I have a White 1991 Corsair UA... or that's what I'm told anyway. I have to admit I know pretty much nothing about cars and I don't really need because the men in my family know everything I could possibly want to know. I'm so n00bish I don't even have my license yet. *nods* pretty sad, hey!
Well uh, yeah... my car was a cheapie but an alrighty and after a lot of my brother's hard work, it's pretty much (or completely?) roadworthy and I'm pretty happy about it. I've even got some fluffy pink seat covers for it!! (dw, they're only staying til I find something better)

Some advice, as already said, search, its a bastard to get working right, but it WILL find everything.

Secondly, dont grave dig. If you see the last post was made in 2004, its pretty much dead. So unless its absolutley critical... dont reply. Make a new post instead.

Hi All,

My name is Tania and I live in Brisbane. I currently don't have a car (just sold mine and looking to buy one). Previously I’ve had 3 Mazda RX7's, a green Series 1 with an extend ported 12A, a blue Series 1 with a bridge ported 13B and a Black Series 1 with a 13B Turbo. Yeah I know, I’ve had three of the same cars, I guess I have a little bit of a soft spot for rotaries.  ::)

I went on an Antrx Cruise the other day and met a few people from Brisbane, so I was convinced by a friend to join. So, uh... Hi.  :)

Hello, My name is Alex I'm 17 and live in Bendigo. I own a 89 u12 pintara that I bought off my brother for $500. I bought the car off him just after he bought his s14 and he was in a very good mood hence the $500 however now that he has come to his senses he has realized the mistake he has made. The car currently has 17 inch wheels, Ti interior, sss grill and bumpers, lowered suspension, sports exhaust, extractors, and clarion speakers. I am currently trying to get it road worthy in time for when I turn 18.

hi, thanks for this opportunity to start in this safe zone. even though i'm a 58 rev head ,i'm not used to "posts, threads, etc".i live on the sunshine coast, drive a tidy u13 attesa, which is being rebuilt at the moment. i love this car. i must love it. iv'e showered $$$$$$$ into  it. for example, custom exhaust manifold, dump pipe, mandrel (3")exhaust.hi flowed 600 cc injectors. microtech lt8 computer, bosch external fuel pump, custom surge tank, custom air box, custom bar/plate intercooler.gt2871r 400hp rated. ppg gearbox.. mercury motorsport 4 wheel dyno showed 175kw at all wheels...then i broke it.. 4 wiseco forged pistons all cracked, no sign of detonation, not  1 bit of ringland damage.. go figure..anyway still i love it .i look forward to any discussion that this post might generate.o by the way.. i'm in dire straits for an attesa u13 standard block #78e.i would be eternally grateful for any info as to where i might track one down..thanks again,graham..

Welcome Graham.

Thats alot of mods on a HNU13 ;)  PPG box is the clincher for me, its got the power but also the tough gearbox to hold it down.

With regards to the engine block, is that block tag '78e' differant to other east/west SR20DET's other than the GTiR?  Could you use any SR block in good condition?

Post by: 20vgs on Aug 13, 2007, 08:36PM
hello budgie, thanks for the welcome. unfortunately it must be only 78e block with attesa.the gearbox/transfer case are different to all the other f.w.d sr20s.regards graham

Hi guys, I've got a u12 Pintara GLI hatch. I like it. It is comfy, grunty for a 2 litre, economical and roomy. It also has a habit of gassing me, not giving me any idea of the engine temp, fuel level or odo reading.

However, it does praise my driving with the ECM (Extremely Competent Maneuver) light, every day.

Glad I found you.

You've got a nice mix of import U12 parts on the front end of your car stretch.

EDIT- Just looked at your photo-bucket.  The back end looks like a bluebird bar and thats definitely an import rear spoiler.  I realise it would have been ages ago, but ask your brother where he got those parts from.

My list for it (external looks) might look something like this...

- Remove pin-striping (fingers nails work a treat, grow one longer, use it then cut it off :P)
- Repaint SSS grille and surround
- Colour code front and rear bumpers white, leave rubbing strip black
- Tint cornering lights
- Clear front indicators
- Dark as possible window tint
- Pintara Ti chrome door handles

And maybe lowered a touch more.

Post by: stretch on Aug 22, 2007, 09:59PM
Ha, yeah way ahead of you on the one long finger nail (long story). I had to take the lowered springs out for the road worthy and I'm respraying all the bumpers and the grille when i get some new head lights and corner lights. The whole car needs a good days work put into it.

Yeah he got them from a wreckers here in Bendigo in about 2001 and traded his old bumpers and grille for them. I will get some more details for you when he gets home.

What the hell is with country wreckers having import U12's!!!

There WAS one in ballarat as well, but not much left of it now.

PM me if your bro mentions any details when he gets home stretch.  Cheers mate.

Central auto dismantlers, had been there for a while when my ex's uncle went to check it out for me.

Was an auto HNU12 I belive.  Go there Fuzz, take some pics for us all and post up.  There may be some stuff still left thats useful to import U12 owners... (rear sub-frame, prop shaft, etc) as I'm not sure, never saw the car with my own eyes.

Ooo, if that was Central Motor Wreckers (only one like it I could find in Ballarat on the internet) then I will go tomorrow! I can call past on my way home.

If it's not central motor wreckers just give me an address and I'll call around.

Cheers,

Hey Budge-man,

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wreckers were pretty useless, they say that they don't have any import U12's in their yard. That's what they SAY, they could actually have one out the back and not know it is there.

Cheers,

Rob

Hey everyone, my names matt and in in adelaide. ive got a 91 ford corsair with a 2L in it. its in good condition generally. had it for a couple yrs now. got it for a steal and only had 96000km on it when i brought it. now has 118000km and is still going strong! bullitproof! its basically stock, but i only got off my p's a couple months ago so didnt want any more attention by the abundence of cops around adeladie (esp fri sat nites!). ive put a stereo in though, just some 6 inch sony speakers in the parcel shelf and a sony headunit. its good enough for the time being. eventually when i get the money i want to put extracters and a nice exhaust system on it as well as some nice mags...
great site and some awesome rides on here...wish i had a trx though!

Hey Gang,
My name is Dan, I'm 31 (and balding) and I drive red '90 model TRX. I've had it about 6 years and it's been in my family since
new(Formerly known to my family as the 'gimph'). The wheel ended up in my hands (from my nana) when my HQ gts350 left me stranded on a hill in a thunder-storm. From then on the numerous V8s I've had were a thing of the past. The old girl has had a semi hard life as it lived in the bush for a while with a few near misses but now it is slowly coming back to its former glory. I've done a few mods of late Lukey Exhaust, Bose struts, Whiteline swaybars, Nolathane bushes, Kenwood system, K&N filter, replaced nearly every perishable (hoses, radiator, alternator, belts, every master/slave cylinder(cheers Skip), brakes, etc) and of course a Grex gear knob(Good for an extra 20kw  ;D) I have got to say the TRX has NEVER let me down over the years hense it's getting the T.L.C it deserves.
I have been reading the forums here for a few months now and look forward to posting some pics and info over the up and coming rebuild so talk to you soon.
              Cheers, Dan. Rockhampton Qld.
P,S Hope my grammer is up to scratch.

Hey all,

We've just bought our first Pintara (GLi) and I've just stumbled upon this great site. I'm not sure of the model designation however.

Its great to be back in a Jap car, our last one was a modded Merc 190E that was rear-ended by a 4x4 with a bullbar at the lights  >:( But the Merc had some really strange peculiarities like the ignition key was on the left side of the steering column...

As can be seen by my forum name, we love R32 Skylines with a passion. Unfortunately the boot isn't big enough for our double stroller, and they are ridiculously over priced here in AU compared to NZ. So we've discovered the Pintara Hatchback. The GLi seems quite basic, but its got heaps of space for the size of it. Its also the same Sky-blue as our first Skyline  :D

Well, we've had it a day and I've managed to fix most of the things wrong with it that made it's asking price cheap  ;D One of the benefits of a long Nissan background I guess...

Hi Guys, I live in Hobart, Tas and i'm Scott. Spun a bearing in my 91 GLi PINTARA and decided to go for the full big rebuild. Already totally LOVED the car so the bearing going was a good excuse to go for the rebuild. Spent nearly $8500 so far comprisiong of ITB's (individual throttle bodies), alot of head work (porting, polishing, match flowing, valves etc..), strengthened bottom end, crank polished, knife edged and balanced, boring, honing etc of the block, upgraded pistons, compression upped to 11.5:1, big cam  and the list goes on! LOL About a month off from getting it tuned and back on the road after doing the bearing last Nov (start of). Starting to get itchy feet (haha). Anyway, glad to find a site with so many nissan enthusiasts and with so much info to share!! Cya all around, Scott.(evlknvl)

Was gonna add a pic or two but... I read the "posting pics for noobs" thread but when i reply or start a thread there is no option at the bottom to do either browse/host a pic. Thought it was because I was a newly joined member and couldn't post pics yet?

Title: My introduction
Post by: harry-the-hairy on Sep 28, 2008, 09:53PM
Hey,
My names Brett, yeah, user name really has nothing to do with anything at all.
I just recently bought a manual rnu12 attesa with a ca18de in it.
I have been reading topics for a while, I like to lurk.
Vithy is the one that introduced me to the site and to the car I now own (bought it off a current member)
I am located in Adelaide at the moment but in a couple months will be moving to Goulburn where my attesa and dad await.
No modifications have been made to the attesa yet, because I am nowhere near it at the moment.
I like making long introduction posts that noone really wants to read.
Cheers if you made it this far.  ;)

greetings to all ANTRX members, my name is corey im 18 years old and i own a white U12 Nissan Pintara TRX (1990) with a KA24 engine.
I live in the Hole that is Adelaide.

I have owned my pinny for only about 3 months or so and got it for a bargain off of my brother for $500
Originally when i got it the Car was running perfectly. Due to me driving like a tool it now has a couple of problems that need to be resolved.
Will give more details in future posts.

I have visited this site a number of times after googling it and it has a lot of useful info. I have also read a couple forums and completely agree with the ban on the phrase "f00lly sik (yes i have a low IQ - or i'm taking the piss)"

Anyway my TRX is stock as a rock at the moment besides a nice tint job and after driving it the first time i fell in love with it, i am intending to post some photo's of it but unable to until i have shaken the "noob" tag haha.

Looking forward to meeting some of you fantatics.. Peace.

Helllo everyone, my name is Claude Im from Columbia Missouri I own a 1st and send Gen civic and a 3rd gen Supra but my cousin has a 1987 nissan Stanza wagon with 80,000 original miles on it with firm body no dings or scratches.  and she wants 400 dollars for it I dont have any pics yet and ive searched all over the net for info that is what led me here Ive heard about a turbo charged motor that was made in certain markets.  My question is would this be a good platform to start a decent build and are parts readily available in your market cuz I know there are not in the United States lol.  Should i let this one pass me buy or swap in a different motor like a Ca18det which i believe to be the turbo motor or any suggestions you guys can give me, I always wanted a unique nissan to own and this one you dont see everyday here in the US. Thanks guys for all the help in advance

is it something like this?

i have to say that would be fairly hillarious (in a good way) with a ca18det in it. these stanzas were awd ca20e werent they? if so, that'd be an awesome setup with the ca18det mated up to the ca20 drivetrain.

wouldnt be overly aerodynamic though :P
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: 87stanza on Jan 13, 2009, 08:07PM
yes it looks just like that lol same color and all, it has sleeper written all over it imagine pulling up to a person in the family van and having your doors blown off by a soccer mom.  Has anyone done anything remotely similiar to this swap and I have a feeling it may not be a straight conversion. Any thoughts, I dont know if this is all wheel drive or not but some are.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: noss on Jan 13, 2009, 10:02PM
if its a ca20e in there, then the ca18det is apparently a straight swap engine mount and gearbox wise, however you would need the wiring loom and ecu etc from the ca18det.. i dont think anyone here has modded one of these cars.. but i'm sure you'd get heaps of help and support if you tried.

that model stanza was called the nissan prairie here in australia.

just did a quick search, apparently the 4wd version is shorter than the fwd version, but just get under the car and have a look.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: 87stanza on Jan 14, 2009, 01:11AM
are there any other options besides the ca20e to be in there, nissan prairie huh never heard of it. I've seen only a couple of these before and they are a bizzare looking vehicle.  Wow and you say the 4wd is shorter I cant imagine it much shorter the car is pretty small.  Now my next question is how hard is it to get a hold of a ca18det in decent shape.  I appreciate the input Noss I'll do some more checking on the Nissan Prairie and see what i can dig up I doubt people bought this car for performance lol
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: noss on Jan 14, 2009, 09:09AM
wikipedia says that they only came with the ca20e.. but wikipedia can be pretty ordinary sometimes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Prairie

if it has the ca20e in there, that isnt bad for your upgrade potential. but then i guess no engine swap is truly easy :P.

not sure what a ca18det would be worth in the states, but in australia i'd guess around AU$1500-2000 for a front cut.. i'm not sure if you can buy motors like that in the states, but basically a front cut is the car from the bottom of the windscreen forward, dash, ecu, front suspension, motor, and well, everything inside the engine bay.

edit: you would need an east west (transverse mounted) motor, which means the ca18det from a u12 bluebird.
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: 87stanza on Jan 16, 2009, 09:06AM
So where would i need to go to buy such a motor I have never heard of a bluebird Im assuming it is a like vehicle in a different market
Title: Re: start here...
Post by: noss on Jan 16, 2009, 09:48AM
bluebird is the jap version of the u12 stanza.. i'm not sure where you would buy an engine/front cut from in america.. we have import wreckers (junkyards) here, i'm not sure if you have stuff like that there.

Title: Re: start here...
Post by: 87stanza on Jan 16, 2009, 02:37PM
this guys at the yards will sell you anything for the right price lol so in order to get what i want I need to look for a bluebird that has been imported or buy one from abroad, so am i just looking for motor or do i need the tranny also If i remember correctly it can bolt right up right and do you have a name of one of your local wreckers you could supply me with or a site Thanks

Hi Everyone...I introduced myself in September, but do far more reading than posting. Thanks to everyone for the interesting information. Since I got my U13, I've upgraded the stereo (still half-way on this thanks to the failure of my brand new, under warranty Kenwood CD deck), tinted the windows, and I also built myself a nice little CAI using a 45degree exhaust pipe bend and a rubber joiner from a pool shop. (yes, the exhaust pipe piece was sealed and painted to avoid rust.) I'm amazed at how much better the performance is.

Now to get to the point, and the reason for this post.
I also had the not unusual crank angle sensor failure, which evolved into a new distributor, a broken radiator ("there's no way you can break a radiator changing a distributor" yeah, sure) and a week at the auto-electrician. I've also spent a small fortune (for me) on the suspension. It really needed new shocks and bushes etc...and also had/has a rather unpleasant noise in the front.  This whole exercise is beginning to be a real drama between me and the company involved, since despite numerous visits, the original noise hasn't changed, even though I have repeatedly told them what is happening and yet they still refuse to even examine what I believe is causing the issue.

As you can see, I've had a crappy time with companies and it is really giving me the shits.  Is there any particular etiquette for complaining about specific companies? Of course, it would be in a purely factual way.  I just feel that this is a good place to use the power to exercise the power of 'word of mouth'.

Gday folks, Andrew is my name.

Since late 2000 ive been the proud owner of a 1991 U13 Atessa. Im from Adelaide orginally but for the past 3 years I have lived in Renmark. Since moving up here I havent done SFA to my 'bird at all and its been sadly neglected. Lately I have been thinking about selling it, its getting old and im nearing 200k on the clock (190k atm) but im going to attempt to breathe some new life into it with a couple of upgrades to keep my interest in the meantime. I bought the car stock and since then have done the following mods (that i can think of anyway):

Full Whiteline Suspension Kit (Including Engine Strut Brace)
DBA Slotted Rotors Front and Rear
Full 3" Exhaust with JunBL Twin-tip box
K&N Pod Filter
GFB "2 Way" BOV
Turbosmart "Stealth" Boost Controller (Havent touched it since it was installed and tuned)
Bosch "Intank" Fuel Pump (Not sure what it was rated at, 400 i think...)
Daughter-board chip by Chiptorque
17" Speedy Lite-6 Rims
Cosmetics wise it has side skirts, rear bar and front lip from Carmate

Thats most of the major stuff I can think of...scanning through the multitude of dyno charts i have the latest one is after the fuel pump was fitted and at 14-15psi boost the car made ~175kw on Jaustech's (SA) "Dynapack" Chassis Dyno back in Jan '05. So an ATW figure would be lower than that of course, probably 140-150ish.

The car has been down the 1/4 mile at A.I.R (I did have the ticket somewhere...) and best time was a 13.37 which was on standard rims and prior to fuel-pump and final tune, but was also several thousand k's ago..  :D

So here are some piccies

(http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/th_DSC09861-1.jpg) (http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/?action=view&current=DSC09861-1.jpg)

(http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/th_DSC09864.jpg) (http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/?action=view&current=DSC09864.jpg)

(http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/th_DSC09865.jpg) (http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg124/u13atessa/?action=view&current=DSC09865.jpg)

Plans currently are to upgrade the intercooler system and then perhaps do injectors, turbo and afm but depends on costs since im still not sure if i'll be keeping the car for too much longer...

Hi I'm Gnomes and am so glad I have found this site to read fab posts and ask for help from those who know my car. I'm a mum of 2 gorgeous boys in Cranbourne who has been driving a Ford Corsair GL 2.0 5 spd manual Hatchback for the past 7 years.  Great car and I can't understand a local used car dealer who said "it's only fit for the wreckers if you trade it to me". (The other half was test driving a car).  Phwah - what does he know!  Great car with a little hiccup presently, but am happy with bugger-all rust in her - just a tad in the hatch behind the indicators - whoopie do dar day!  Cars less than 5 years old have more rust in them these days!  Only upgrade I've given her is to pull out the Ford tape deck & radio, to put in a Sony CD player with inbuilt tuner!  Arrgghh the joys of listening to Playschool instead of Noiseworks!  *Giggles*

hey guys, i'm nick a new member from Phillip island, just recently brought a trx and i love the car.
its a 1990, gun metal Grey, stock body kit, "seven" 17 inch rims, sleeper car, getting a gt wing put on it tomorrow.

I'm not car nerd, so just wanting opinions about the current setup, as far as i know
Engine : ka24
Turbo : Turbo smart Hi Flow t3 (Currently 7psi)
Inter cooler : Unknown brand, but its huge
BoV : Turbo smart 6 Port
Clutch : Brass Button
Transmission : Supra 5sp Short Shift
Engine Management : EMS (Box is under passenger seat)
Exhaust : 2 1/2 inch straight though to what looks like a stock muffler with a different tip
getting turbo timer and boost gauge installed after roadworthy and putting bov back on (in victoria)

the previous owner told me with the transmission, dont slow down though gears like a normal manual,as it will kill the transmission sound right? also have noticed a noise coming from the centre of the dash between 2k rpm to 3.5k rpm and its kinda annoying, its a "whining" kinda noise.

Had a comp sound system which has mostly been removed minus the jvc 6 stack and the rear parcel shelf speakers, anyone recommend good quality head unit and speaker/amp/suby setup than itsnt gonna cost the earth.

Greetings/Hello/G'day all!

My name is William and I'm in California, USA. I am here to share stories, learn about tuning options, buy parts and even help find parts for you. I own several other cars including a Sierra Cosworth replica project I'm working on. There is little to zero support for the U12 Stanza here in the U.S, but generally can find any replacement parts cheap. I have owned three U12 Stanzas (one was hit while parked) and still have two, I bought one three weeks ago from an old lady owner (original) with 157km original miles. My other one has over 317km but I've replaced the timing cover/oil pump, timing chain, many other parts and completely reworked the head. I also ported the stock exhaust manifold because it had bad casting overlap on the ports and there is no header readily available here.

I am hoping to buy suspension parts (springs, sway bars, bushings and shocks) and learn about mods you all have been doing. Thanks for your time and I look forward to spending some time here, though honestly I am active on a few other forums as well.

Hi to all, my name is Andres  from Costa Rica I'm 27 years old.

I own a 1991 Nissan Bluebird Attesa with the SR20det engine on it. It's completely stock. I bought it last January. It's a sweet ride and the big reason why I switch from having a Honda to a Nissan. This car use to belong to the Japanese Embassy in my country, It's crazy how stock  this car is, no modifications at all after almost 20 years. I have some modifications in mind that I would like to do. For example the clutch is almost dead so I planing to a ACT or Nismo Clutch kit, but I dk if its the same one the the GTir uses.
I found out about antrx.com looking on GOOGLE information about my car as I mentioned before I am new on Nissan. It's really cool what you guys have here.. Keep up the good work...

Yeah... The guy I bought it from have it park on his garage for 2 years, So I have to do a complete tune up on the car.... I just buy a headlamp on ebay from one guy in Australia because I was missing one. My car is really hard to find parts in my country.. I basically have to buy the majority online and overseas.

I'm learning a lot about this car in this forum like things from other cars that fit to mine. ;D ;D ;D

G'day lads, gentlemen and Nissan fans/tinkerers alike. I am a forum noob and I'm soon to be a blurbird owner.
I have enjoyed checking out many aspects of this site yet have no idea how forums even operate so plz bear with me. This be my first ever post.
My name's Matthew from Adelaide and I've lined up my next ride, the blurbird, just awaiting the sale of my current ride which has been very good to me. I am the second owner of my little economical 3dr '96 Peugeot 306XR. Under 138 thousand kms that is up for sale on carsales.com.au in South Australia and is dark metallic grey.

I wish to say that this site has already been so valuable and informative in getting me ready for my new ride, that I know exactly where to turn to learn and share information about all my things Nissan/Datsun... And this will no doubt be incredibly inspiring and helpful for years to come. I look forward to hearing from anyone regarding Nissan/Datsun clubs/events or restoration.
Regards, Matthew.

Howdy all Names Kyle, I've been on this site and I've gotten my hands on a U13 SR20DET 4wd bluebird off Jeffrido from this site. So i am a new Victorian member and i must say i love it its such a sleeper :D current mods to the car (that i know of)
Water to Air top mount
Pod (full stainless steel boxed enclosure)
Battery moved to the boot.
Big exhaust (i hate it to big and tips look gay)

Thats all i know of for the time being haven't driven it in about a month as I've been getting the clutch done due to a dodgy mechanic being lazy putting the aftermarket clutch in. (the aftermarket one shattered due to the wrong clutch flywheel + Clutch match up and some dodgy spacer plate....)

So expect to see some posts on some info about these little beats ;)

All and all i love it just with it had the Heads up Display ;)

Yoyo.
Crazy2287. A year or so ago i got 2x ford corsair's ghias for $150. spend a weekend swapping bits till i had a complete car. zorst was shat so i welded a std exhaust off an XF falcon onto it. took it in and passed it for rego. Been my daily ever since.
It's always had a timing chain rattle dispite several oil changes and a 20-60 grade oil with stabilizer. So i pulled it apart and attempted to replace the timing chain. Positioned the broken link at the top of the cam-gear and figured i'd just feed the new chain in.
Due to me been slightly retarded, as i slid the broken link out, the cam chain slipped up out from under my finger and down into the sump. The tensioners pressure rotated the crank and put everything out of sync. bla bla bla tried to take a short cut, bent valves now im swapping heads with the spare, so im here to see what i should do since im going to have the head off.
Figure out if i should do any performance mods (shave head? cam?) or just whack it back together.
That's my story.
My other car is an XF falcon sedan that i've spent a few years working on. brought it grandpa spec and now its "get me in trouble all the time" spec so i gotta fix this damn corsair quick so i can put the falcon back in the shed ^^;
i like killin zombehz and i drink (points left) scotch.
Also i have 4 chickens, they pump eggs which i eat 8D OM NOMNOMNOM

Hi to Everyone of you Nissan Nutters.
Even though I've been reading and learning from this site for ages now, I have only just put up my first post, soooo I thought I should perhaps introduce myself.
My name's Rob and I am from Canberra. Been driving for about 19 years with no accidents. Touch wood.(touches willy). ha ha. Except for the lovely, skilled and highly aware old bat that reverse into me in a carpark last year. GRRRRRR. still not happy with the repairs. F#@Kn Dum@$$ Old B!+*h. Anyway... where was I? Oh yeah...
Started off in a 85 Bluebird (Mum's), Traded in for my 94 Bluey 4.5 years ago, (love it), went halvies in a 96 Bluey (now for sale) for my Girlie, and Just got me a R33 skyline 4door. NISSAN FREAK. When you're on a good thing why change?? Eh?? As I said, have learnt heaps from here what with oil in dizzies etc so I applaud you all on a great site and hope to continue to learn more from you all in the future. Perhaps I may even be able to help some of you out myself with some of the knowledge I have acquired along the way...  Baptism of Fire. Cheers. Rob. PS. I like stories...

well, hello every one. I'm the newbie. but not so new to Nissan. I currently live in New Bern, NC US and have been a mechanic at Nissan for going on two years. proud to be part of such a lively and well put together forum. if there are any technical questions or other techs don't hesitate to talk. I own a 96 Altima. so far i have done a rear drum to disc, tan to charcoal interior(rather have black), leather steering wheel, and had both fogs until i had a wreck few months ago >:(. as soon as i get my tax money here in a few weeks ill be starting my engine rebuild. don't have anything crazy just a stock 2.4. but it has a few intake leaks and needs valve stem seals so i figured id id a complete rebuild while shes out. my plan is to get hold of some factory alloys and i have no idea what car the front bumper i want comes from.

I signed up a while back now but haven't regularly read or posted anything. I've got a '92 U12 Pintara, maroon 5 door, which has definitely seen better days. It absolutely refuses to die though!

This forum has been the only place I've found that's diagnosed the stuttering engine over 2500rpm problem, which is great. I still haven't had it fixed, but it's good to know it's a known issue.

Hey guys.

I'm Sam, I've been a member for a bit now but this is my first post.
I own a 1990 ca20 Corsair, which I bought at the start of this year for $900 ;)
The old guy that owned it, had it for 7yrs before me, and bar the dust (he lived on a dirt road) its in quite good nick.
Its only done 170,000kms which was the major selling point.

I plan to play with it whenever I have money (uni student) but for now its still completely Granny spec, except for the stereo I put in.

If all goes well and I start fixing it up I'll add photos, but yeah just an intro post! :D

Hi guys, my names Matt (obviously) and I dont actually own a Pintara, currently an ae92 corolla seca. Am interested in moving on to a U12 TRX though.

Just had a few questions basically. How does the Pintara vary to the JDM Bluebird SSS? (suspension and brake components? I assume the SSS had an SR20DET? Bumpers n stuff?)

I'm into the 'jdm' scene (for lack of a better term, jdm doesnt mean a damn thing anymore...) here in Sydney, active on twincam.org.au and jdmst, and I like tastefully modded cars, and thats the sort of approach i'd take to a TRX, just as I have with my seca- its not even an SX lol. But yeah, nice to find that theres actually a forum for these cars, they seem to have a lot of potential, especially as sleepers ahah.

Hi peoples just registered and thought I will hi, currently just started a new job and am starting to look for a second work car and I've came across the Nissan pintara which looks like a good car, looking at one for $600ono with just the gauges not working on it etc and manual etc,

Currently have a ford ef Fairmont which needs to go in the carport (all I got for a garage atm) to get things done on it, hence also the second car.

Anyways just wanted to say hi and will defiantly post pics when if I get the one I'm looking at.

Hope this is the right place to put this.

Hi names Pat (Obviously), I'm situated around the northern suburbs of Melbourne
I recently Bought a '89 Pintara T manual with a Ka24e with 133,000km's on it.

The car is stock as could be but came with a Clarion head unit and kenwood tweeters and 6x9's on the parcel shelf installed by the previous owner.
Major issues recently was the starter motor decided to blow up, the radiator/ engine seems to either like its coolant or has a slow leak and Car is missing the odd bits and pieces (as most cars do).
Only thing I've added so far is my old pioneer amp and 1200w Sub.

Future plans for the car include in particular order (money and time dependant); exhaust + Extractors, air filter (Pod), lowered, wheels, TRX body kit, upgraded cam and ecu chip.
If by anyone happens to be selling any of the main parts please let me know.

Cheers guys see you around.

Grant from the Goldy here. Picked up a U12 TRX for $500 three days ago. Engine is buttery, especially for a car with 250k on the clock and a scoop bolted to the bonnet that leads nowhere, so I was pleasantly surprised. It has been lowered, and I stuck the Alpine headdy out of the old Forrester today, otherwise it is waiting for FR wheel bearing, some engine mounts, a bit of body and dash work. Mod wise, I figure i might as well start with a bit of CAI considering I already have a hole in the bonnet... After that, who knows? Hesitant to do the exhaust cos I love the note coming from the stocker. All I know is I'm keen to get her back to better than her former glory.

Hi my names David and i own a Pintara  :) this place is like pintaras anonymous.

So i got a 1992 super-hatch T auto with less than 70K on the clock. just a rough guess as the clock has stopped at 56K but being my grandmas car i know it hasn't done more than that. Not much wrong with it, driver side back door central locking doesn't work and miner body damage, mostly car park crap. Nothing serious right  ;D

I've had my fair share of modified cars but this is my first pintara and first on a tight budget. See a few years back i crashed my ute and was badly injured leaving me a paraplegic. I got my license back and bought this little granny car and had it modified for hand operated brake/acceleration.

Ever since i got the car i have been stalking this website so i figure it was about time to join and see what the community is like from inside the circle. I'm not sure which way to go with this car its a strange shape, not a wagon not a hatch. i figure i will slowly add little pieces to it until it becomes something or anything haha we will see.

Howdy all, new member here.

I've just bought a '91 Pintara Executive hatch. This will be a second car to be used as a runabout and eventually will be given to my daughter when she gets her licence. My main car, an MB 1992 W140 600SEL, is a bit much just to do the shopping and is currently off the road to do some engine work. I use it mainly as a land yacht for interstate trips at which it excels, but a 6 litre V12 lugging around 2200 kg is a bit pricey on fuel for city use.

The Pintara is quite low mileage, about 107K km and exceptionally clean. But the CA20E in it has a lot of blow by and I reckon the rings are worn out. I know this to be a common fault from owning an S12 Gazelle many years ago. I can fix that cheaply myself next year once my Benz is back on the road.

I would have rather had a KA24 based car; I almost bought a TRX years ago and liked it a lot. I've checked the forum for engine swap info but they are all quite old. What is the state of play regarding engines now? Are they still easy and/or cheap to come by? I'm not interested in a hi-po car, just a good reliable one for a first time driver. Probably just doing the rings on the current engine will be enough but I'd like to know my options.

In Queensland you can pick up a ka24 in decent condition for around 300, though it would probably be easier to pick up a cheap car with the ka and do it that way

Thanks noss. Yes it all started with a u12 executive I brought. Within 1000kms I had a cracked radiator. Which then lead to overheat , blown head gasket and losing the drive in my auto. it was an expensive excersise that lead to me fixing it up and driving it for another 4 - 5 years no major dramas since. I just recently found a clean low Km TRX planning to sell it. But after making a few repairs and a good service I refuse to let this thing go haha. I'm stuck and I don't give an asshat. :P good to meet you all I'm sure im in the right place here :D
