i have 2.5" on my ka24e.. no resonator & a straight thru cannon exhaust. very illlegal noise levels. but you can quiten it down with resonators etc.. download the melbourne cruise 11 divx movie that budgie did to hear what my exhaust sounds like..

when i boot it hard its a bit raspy.. but when i'm driving normal its a nice drone kidna thing.

if you got ca20e get 2.25"

I've got a ka with a 2.25 cat back, Lukey super turbo muffler, coming out into twin DTM style twips.

Very droney, probably more so cos it's in a wagon and just reverberates in the cabin.

Would a hi-flow cat, or no cat for that matter make much of a differnce? is noise?

not really

The myth about having a hollowed out cat giving you more performance, etc is bullshit - not to mention it makes your car eligible for a canary

I've even heard of a loss in power from people tampering with their cats :kitty:

When you get an exhaust make sure you fork out for a 2.25" flex pipe (at least) and go to a wrecker and grab yourself a decent condition VL/VN/VR/VS cat convertor, they are 2.25" inlet/outlet and are only worth about $50.
my bro did this when he got his extractors on his celica to match the catback 2.25" system he already had, and it goes heaps harder. he dyno'd 78kw at the wheels with only a catback, now it definetly feels like it's good for around 86-88kw at the wheels.

or u could go like me and get 2 inch all the way through ...from extractors to muffler with a 4by 3 inch tip. gave heaps extra torque through rev range esp down low it also has ......with two resonators still very loud when reved

very nice sound to it ... sorta like a rumbling sound

Just  cos I said it, doesn't mean it's true.

Get on the net and do a bit of research, you might find what you want to hear,

its because you dont get an increase in power over a better flowing cat. if you do its in the range of 1%. so as shaun said its not worth doing if you're gonna get canaried.

True but a mandrel bend creats a sh*t load less resistance upwards of 30-40% :) of course i probably couldn't afford to put a mandrel zorst on my car any way lol

Noss, its sounds a little raspy bit its also a tough sound.  hehe, i like the chirp and mini burnout..Well thats what i think i could hear behind the orchestra music.

With my resinator, if i take it out and get piping straight through in replace of it, is there any power gains.  As in, are resinators actually restrictive, cuz i've heard many stories about it...? not sure  ???

its not my fault my tyres are bald budge. my car sounds completely different when driving normally, its a low deep grumble and because of the cam it has a bit of that wrx style lumpiness to it.

hopefully if we have this cruise before christmas we'll get some better sound clips.

by the way, this is for a 2 1/4 from the cat back, with a mild steel sports muffler, and a tip ranging from $20 to $80
