5 speed sequential conversion
« on: Jun 10, 2006, 12:22PM »
Hello everyone I have a AUTO U13 bluebird and I'm investigating the idea of putting in a 5 speed sequential gear box out of a Toyota MR2 spyder I have driven the MR2 and love the gearbox but have no idea what it would take to attach it to a bluebird would anyone here have any idea

thanks

Far too much work to be worth it.

I agree it would be near impossible especially seeing a MR 2 has a Rear mounted engine.

You could possibly get a sequential box, for about $20 000 custom made.

I've seen info about sequential shifter mechanisms. They bolt to your floorpan in the same place as the original shifter and operate the original gear linkage rods.

yeah Ive seen a special seq shifter (in the ads in HPI) that you can buy which just hooks up to your gearbox much the same fashion as you describe...

I think its an amimeya seq shifter setup, but not entirely sure, when I find the ad in the magazine again ill update my post :P

The problem is that standard auto boxes aren't designed to be driven like a manual (or "sequential" like you're talking about in your post).
Doing so will effectively kill the box, anyone got any comments?

if you find that ad I might be keen for a look.  not that it's really worth it for my car, but it'd still be fun!
I spent my money on sothern comfort and speeding fines, the rest I wasted.

I'd say the mitsubishi shifters could be adapted to a FWD Nissan if they use the same shifting rod setup.
