alternators

i was wondering how to get more kick out of my alternator as i have around 1500 watts of sterio and when turned up 3/4 of the way all the lights in my car will dim with the beat im in the process of gettin a marine dry cell 900 cca batterie will this be enough to fix my problem or will i need a bigger alternator

Ash, what size cabling do you have between the battery and the amps?  If the cable is substantial, you might want to look at a stiffening capacitor.  This will make sure there is plenty of juice for those bass hits by storing energy where it can be released very quickly.  Capacitors have low internal resistance, unlike lead-acid batteries.

I doubbt a larger battery will help in this case, although a larger battery will give you a longer engine-off listening time.  Last option would be higher output alternator, as I think KA24 alternators are 80A, which should be plenty.

i have a capasitor but havn't put it in yet i was goin to up grade the cable from 4 gauge to 2 gauge if i had too . do u know wat amp rating the ca20 alternators have . and also would the ka24 alternator fit my ca20 alternator mounts

Yes, defo upgrade the cable and add the cap.  I doubt you'll need to worry about the alternator after you do that.  As for the ratings, not sure at the moment .. might have a squiz in the FSM tomorrow for you.
