I think brake horsepower is measured using an engine brake dyno connected to the flywheel, but don't quote me on that.
I've also seen B.H.P. as British Horsepower, which of course is slightly different.
Japan and europe also use a power rating called P.S. which is nearly the same as brake horsepower.
