Nissan Skyvia FTW?
« on: Aug 13, 2006, 08:27PM »
Watching the Drift Australia series today (as you do) saw something I hadn't seen before. The Nissan Skyvia.

From what I remember, It's a S13 Silvia chassis, running a S14 SR20DET blacktop, with a R34 GTR front end conversion and they decided to make the back into a ute. Apparently there are more of these out there in the world... somewhere.

Personally, I don't like this thing at all. It's just plain stupid. What does everyone else think?

I think its the ugliest thing ever created-probably has an ugly driver who thinks he's top shit too.
First a Silver TRX, then a White TRX...whats next? Game Boy-Clear style TRX?

i like it cause its different for a change, but as for a car to own....no, Bee R's r32/34 front conversion was pushing it that in my mind is ok but on a silvia would look wayy to dispreportioned.

I saw that out at Eastern Creek. I've got a mate competing in it and so far he's ranked 9th overall I think. They'll be competing in Tasmanina in the near future.

Googling for pics of this thing is bloody difficult. Anyway, managed to find another pic where you can see the back end a bit clearer (because there's less tyre smoke)  :P

EDIT: Silly me, this thing's actually called a Skyvia ute. Skyvia is just a Silvia that's had a Skyline front end conversion. I feel stupid now.  :-[

I was actually watching rides on foxtel yesterday and they had one on.
it was dark though, so it might have just been a silvia ute looking thing :)

i reckon they should put something like that into production. a 'f00ly sick' off the production line ute. Complete with factory monster tacho, cheese, lettuce, mayonaise etc.

why is it plain stupid ?............it looks much like what a r34 ute would look like roughly ....looks fairly similar to the falcon ute....

and there lots of nissan skyline/ silvia utes out there .......

You just answered your own question. An R34 ute? I don't like that idea at all. I prefer R34s to stay as coupes (with the occasional sedan). Chopping the back off to make it into a ute just destroys the lines of the car, and makes the proportions just a bit too odd.

This is just my opinion. I'm sure there are people who like the look of it, otherwise there wouldn't be any in the first place.

(that) shit looks wierd!

should've just stopped at the front end/headlight whatever it is conversion, the truck rear is too much, unless they made a truck rear so that it drifts easier (less wieght?), in which case thats kindof a ripoff for the people that are running non-frankenstein cars in the competitions.

i have liked it for a while now, just coz its different and an engineering marvel. i have to say good on em for doing it, and if you want to see more on it then check out the ADD racing website coz it is there car and not anyones car in particular.
its more of a company project car to show off there skills.

its a bit harsh to be knocking it when you dont know the reasons behind the building of it. take that as you will but i will stand by it because so many people will knock us for modifying a pintara or a bluebird and they have no idea the reasons behind what we do to our cars

Good point Hugh, they probably have a good reason behind it. However i personally don't like the look of it but can easily see that they're capable of good unique work which is always nice to see especially when it comes time to do extreme things to a not so well known car.

the reason i think it is coz people have said to me "why do bother with that pintara" and i am sure most of us have heard something like that once upon a time.......

so now i look at the broader spectrum of the work that has been done to get the bigger picture of the idea's behind peoples projects.
but none the less it may not be appealing to everyone that looks at it but the way they have gone about it and the finished product is nothing to be putting down as nobody likes it when there car or anything to do with there car gets put down.

we like our extreme things thats for sure luke, and our cars will be extreme for sure :)
