Tyre Pressures
« on: May 3, 2006, 10:35PM »
Ok I have downloaded the service manual and searched the forum but I can't find anything on tyre pressures for a 90' corsair anywhere LOL. I guessed the fronts at 29kpi and the rears at 26kpi. Can someone tell me the exact levels please? Thanks

When I got my last set of tyres fitted they said 34-36psi front, 32-34psi rear for 195/65R14 tyres.

the tyre placard says 300kpa normally and 330kpa for fully loaded. what that says in psi i can't remember, but if u goto the servo the air hose should tell you kpa and psi. from what i can remember its not very full. you gotta put nearly 40psi in em well thats what my tyre bloke did last time i went to him anyways.

the above pressures are for stock sized 195/65 r14 tyres.

converting those kpa values to psi and you get some pretty high figures!!

300kpa = 43psi
330kpa= 47psi

if you run them in the middle 30 ranges you are pretty right just for around town. If you want to go racing then tyre pressure is pretty critical for certain grip levels. However around town the general rule of thumb is that a slightly lower pressure will give less tyre wear and higher fuel consumption, and slightly higher pressures will give lower fuel consumption and higher wear. Its all relative though and you are not going to save $50 a week on petrol by running around with your tyres at 100psi.

No, most tyres don't have a recommended pressure marked on them because of different weights between cars, and that size tyre wasn't ever fitted to U12s so it wouldn't say it on the tyre placard.

According to my car handbook- anything around 30psi when cold is alright. When hot its 32-33 psi. I don't think a little difference between the front and rear wheels does matter much. Anything over 35 psi sounds too much and you may experience tyre blasts whem the tyres are hot and running in a rough road! :o

I run my tyres at 36psi or so. I've never really experimented though.
