N00B from the states
« on: Dec 23, 2008, 08:16PM »
I've been cruising the forums for a while now so I thought I'd say hello. I live in the U.S. I drive a 91 stanza or u12 whatever you wanna call it lol. This is my cardomain if you guys wanna check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2942006 Its my first car and I have put some time into her. This website has put alot of new ideas into my head that i never thought were even possible. Cheers

Thanks for the feedback guys there are not too many u12 tuners here in the states. I have only seen one u12 driving around. In the future I wanna put a CAI, new 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back, chipping the ecu and possibly a new cam. Nothing too crazy yet. Just something to get my feet wet. Right now the big plan is to getting it running right again. Its spewing all kinds of nasty whitish smoke out of every orifice possible. Its even shooting out of the valve cover oil fill. When I took the oil fill off it sprayed oil and smoke everywhere. Any idea's

White smoke is oil. Black smoke is Gas.

Is there oil in the radiator? That suggests head gasket.
I'm so far behind at work, I'm almost retro!

I have yet to look in the rad. since it is about 20 deg. outside. Alittle while before the car started acting up. The heat would not work very well. When I had the heat on, and gave her some gas the heat (or lack there of) smelled like Antifreeze. What would the easyest way to check if there is oil in the rad. ? Would maybe filling with too much oil make it do this as well? I'm willing to brave the cold to work on it. Thanks

White is water/coolant.

Oil smoke is Blue.

If it smelt like antifreeze/coolant with the heater on, and white smoke, I'd def guess something is up with cooling system.. perhaps even head gasket.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to do the timing chain. Mine fell apart at about 210,000 km.

Damn Mine has about the same mileage. I just figured what the hell when its all apart might as well do it. I'm more than likely going to take off my a/c compleatly off compressor, the lines, Everything lol

Might as well get it all done in one hit mate. Do it properly the first time round (I should follow my own advice lol)

Yeah like measure three times and cut once. Or something like that lol I figured shoot since almost half of my engine is going to come off. I might as well do a couple more things while its off. I'm going to also try and put a cai in after I get her back up to par again. Thanks for all of the input and I will have to make a build thread here in abit when i get all of the pictures uploaded.

Thanks. The only thing that sucks is now I didn't use uv resistant material so the black is now turning a light purple  >:( Once summer comes around I'm going to redo alot of the car. Door panels ect. Thanks for the input, It just makes me want to do even more things to the car.

Thanks again, I hope she keeps on running as well. If she doesn't then Ill have to buy another lol. Ive gotten two speeding tickets in it. First one was 80mph in a 65mph zone. The second was an 86 in a 65. So Ive had to pay more in tickets than I did the car. I payed 200usd for the car and 290$ for the tickets lol

Yeah pretty unlucky but now I'm watching my speed alot more because i cant afford another ticket. Plus if i do get another they will more than likely take my license away for awhile. I can not have that. She is still running but not right now,but I'm going to put a new head gasket on it this summer when I actually have the time and funds. While it is down I'm getting everything slowly pieced together for a new sound system and a new cold air intake.
