""The LHS seal usually leak because the diff bearings on that side wear, due to the gearbox oil not being changed regularly, and particles getting into the roller bearings. To check, see if you can move the drive shaft laterally, (up and down) adjacent the seal. If you can, no seal replacement will fix the oil leak. The bearings are under preload, and there should be no side movement. If there is movement, it's a strip down of the gearbox and diff.""

Possibly my problem ?

I had the same issue in a U13 a few years ago, and it was stuffed diff bearings (exactly that scenario).

Sadly the best seal in the world won't fix it. See if you've got movement in the drive shaft, if so, it's new gearbox time.

i would say so yes. is the seal definitely for the lsd shafts? aren't the lsd shafts slightly thicker?

Yes father. The LSD seals are like twice the size in diameter. I've sourced another box I may pick up tomorrow.
