hey mate,

What model amp is it? TA3404, X704 ???

basiclly, what you need to do is:

1. mount amp in boot somewhere.
2. Connect and run speaker wire, rca cables down one side of the car, whilst running power and remote wire down the other side.
3. Find a point to run the ground wire to (no longer than 50cm if possible) make sure you sand the paint back or it wont ground properly.
4. Connect RCAs and remote wire(blue wire on sony headdeck) to head unit.
5. Connect fuse holder to power cable (no futher than 30cm from battery), take out fuse, connect to battery (+side)
6. Mount fuse holder, and refit fuse
7. Turn car on, check amp is powering up ok.
8. Tune amp

not sure what else  you will be able to run off that amp until you upgrade front speakers.

mount the amp sideways, next to the ski hatch, that way u can hide the wiring.

just be careful with those X704's, they like a really good ground, so do it properly

A few additions:

1. mount amp in boot somewhere. A good place is on the back of the back seats. You can hide your wiring by cutting slits in the carpet and running it down under the carpet and under the back seat.
2. Run speaker wire, rca cables down one side of the car, whilst running power and remote wire down the other side. Run the power wire through the black clutch blanking plate on the firewall near the brake booster. Unbolt it, drill a hole through it big enough to fit one of the rubber grommets that comes in the wiring kit and feed the power wire through. Run all wiring under the carpet along the sills of the car.
3. Find a point to run the ground wire to (no longer than 50cm if possible) make sure you sand the paint back or it wont ground properly. Put two or more self-drilling screws through the terminal, this is the most critical connection and you don't want it coming loose. Watch out for your fuel tank when you're putting screws through the floor of your car  ;)
3.5. Connect the wiring to the amp in this order: Ground, power, remote, speakers, RCAs. Check out the literature that came with your amp. It should show you how to bridge two channels of the amp to run a sub. Use the rear channels of the amp for this.
4. Connect RCAs and remote wire(blue/white wire on sony headdeck) to head unit.
5. Connect fuse holder to power cable (no futher than 30cm from battery), take out fuse, connect to battery (+ side)
6. Mount fuse holder, and refit fuse
6.5. Set all gains on the amp to their minimum values (anti-clockwise)
7. Turn car on, check amp is powering up ok.
8. Tune amp. Basic rundown: Crossovers should be set to about 20hz on the HPF scale, 80hz on the LPF scale, turn gain up until the sub is at a good listening level, definitely not making 'popping' or 'flapping' sounds. If it starts making sounds other than clean bass, turn it down or you'll fry the sub. If you need help I'm sure Sticky or me will help you out if you can get to the next antrx meet.

not sure what else  you will be able to run off that amp until you upgrade front speakers. I reckon the next thing you should add to your system is a nice set of 6" splits in the front doors, which will sound great if you hook them up to the other two channels on your amp

To get it professionally installed at Strathfield you'd be looking at roughly $100.

Nice amp mounting method Jello!  :P

And that is a pretty dodgy ground you have there, Sticky.

Teena, I could hook up the neutral switch wire on your alarm to the car's ECU, I'm pretty sure they have a neutral switch in the gearbox. I'll do some research and let you know.

Do it that way Jono, straight to the ecu. I've had zero problems since my install.

I've never had any problems doing it that way :)

And yes there is a neutral switch on R34s.

Hey where did that get installed??

Stick's work. I had it installed before i bought the 34...

Teena, I could hook up the neutral switch wire on your alarm to the car's ECU, I'm pretty sure they have a neutral switch in the gearbox. I'll do some research and let you know.

Thanks Jono, i did ask for the installer to not put the dodgey assed cable around the stick for the neutral switch, as i knew that the majority of the nissan gearboxes have the neutral gearbox switch and would've preferred it that way, so yeah i was quite pissed off to find that the dodgey cable had been used. Buuuut, nevermind. I shall be in touch!!
