Cheap Leather Upgrade (Seats)
« on: Jun 25, 2005, 11:02AM »
Maxima 3.0 SOHC GXE   89-94     VG30E        J30
Maxima 3.0 SOHC SE     89-91     VG30E        J30
Maxima 3.0 DOHC SE     91-94     VE30DE      J30

Thats what they are in the US, dont know if they go by the same name there in Australia. Anyways, the seats are straight bolt ins, just have to run power to them. Couldn't find any other picture examples 'round here, so heres my J30 leather (lovin em!!!)

Cheap as in $60 US for front and back, forgot to mention that. They're power seats, recline and back and forth, thus they need power.

Agreed, I think they would suit a Camry's styling though.

The seats are very comfortable and they add class, but the only downfall is that in the heat they can get realy hot. I use bucket seats now anyway, but if I ever get defected I use the j30 seats as backup.

Yeh, but if you want your car to reach full potential, it starts getting very difficult to keep your car legal. There are people who do up their cars to look standard, like (sleepers), but that doesnt work for me.  The only thing I do to avoid atention is have the exhaust as quiet as possable, with a nice perrr - not too loud, so you here more of the engine (air pod and Turbo), this way I can lay off the throttle when ever I see a cop. I also remove the gt wing from my car when I drive it on the streets. But the bucket seats stay were they are, and they are proven road legal (fully reclinable using the original u12 seat brackets/mounts etc with minor modifications to the front section). No cop is gona look long and hard enough to pick a suicide seat belt. But I'm getting proper and "Legal" harnesses.

Pfft... as if you'd want a suicide seat belt anyway, they're called suicide for a reason.

And they are rather distinctive. The cop would probably think "WTF kind of seat belt is that?!" and then out would come the big yellow sticker.

Rofl suicide seat belts, who is stupid enough to come up with that mod, may as well just remove the seatbelts and paint a stripe across your shirt that looks like a seatbelt.

I thought the idea of moding was to increase HP not to decrease IQ.

Those type of seatbelts are required OEM to pass US design standards.

Not the ones I'm getting, they are certified approved.

I'm not talking about suicide belts, I'm talking about Harnessess, they are different, and provide more safety than required.

I don't see anything wrong with a harness.

But suicide seatbelts .. why does it reach over to the A pillar instead of crossing your chest and going to the B pillar?

Babbling about legalities and mods and stuff, some people perform illigal mods because they want the positive effect of that modification, and can justify breaking the law for it. Some things are understandably dumb, so people don't care. Like window tinting. People get 15%, 10%, 5% because it provides the look and privacy (+ whatever else) they want. People don't do it just to break the law.

But these whacky seatbelts, I havn't seen anyone retrofit suicide seatbelts. Why? Because they look stupid and useless. I figure most people can appreciate the purpose of, and understand the working of our normal seatbelts, so looking at this design just results in "WTF?".

I think the bit on the A-pillar slides back to the B-pillar when you put the seat belt on. It's so them stupid americans* wear their seatbelts.

*Americans may not be as stupid as I make them out to be :P
