I've always been a fat bastard but I used to be a pretty good swimmer (esp for a fat bastard)

Did anywhere between 80 and 120 laps per day(60 morning 40 afternoon) 5 days a week and ~40 or 50 each day on Saturday and Sunday. When I was 13 I could break 40s (best was 37) for 50m freestyle, which though not outrageously fast was quick for a kid weighing ~90kg. When i was really into it I could swim 20 laps of butterfly nonstop (tumbleturns etc).

ah, good stuff mate, thats wat i get for not reading the whole thread...

i'm a very on/off training person.  i play plenty of sports, (baseball, tennis, boxing, martial arts) but i'm by no means "fit".  hell, on one of those electric weight scales, it said i was 38% body fat.

wats keeping me at this build is that i consciously recognize good, healthy choices, and do everything possible to avoid them.

ps. Jas, if you bulk up, you're going to drop me so easily when we meet :)  (not that you wouldn't have already.)

(Being a x gym jumky)
I would say start off at ball work well cardio, Then some small walking maybe around the block or something, U can write out a simple plane when you have got your heart to a safe point.
Eg:- short ride 10 minutes how ever mainy calouries maybe 120 cant remember, then go into some stretches maybe short rowing for 7 minutes, then get into some leg work by getting out a stepping box by restting your feet most the way over and lifting your body off that point it will work your cauffs.
then after that work on building your rists get maybe a 20 pound bar rest your arms on a flat bench with your hands over the edge,
lift your hands up and down letting the bar role in your hands.
after maybe two set's of 10.
after all this reppet all through to riding.
then have a cool shower.
day2 cycling 10 minutes short cardio on the ball working stomic like your swiming helps posture and strength in stomich.
then get into work out after your stretchs on a up right bench use 10 pound weights no need to over do your body it will give you lactive acid and burn no fun.
do 3 sets of 10 with a nice steady rate lifting your arms too your shoulders both arms like your lifting a 74 cm tv out in front of you up to your shoulders.
(this will work your cheast pull it tight).
then repeat as throw all stages again.

that might give you a idea of some small work out effective and you can do at home.
if you live in melbourne i know plenty of privite trainners if you want help!.
never work over what your body can handle like having alc then going to the gym you maybe able to lift more or run more but is coursing more stress on your body and can lead in a rize in heart rate say your resting heart rait is 87 bpm can rize up to 120 bpm which can be deadly for some people.
with diets must try not avoiding meat, meat is god for your body and blood your body needs iron to build.
spudds contain startch which is a cloging thing but should be had like once a week same with bread is a startch product.
try too stick away from alc. and smoking and fatty foods like fast food.
may look good but isnt good for your body.
What's one thing that keep's me going that i can see you harf a mile behind. what makes me said that i just blew my engine again and im stuck with no ride again

The most important thing in tring to lose weight is to eat well . Eg Maccas healthy choice stuff is crap it has far to many carbohydrates in it. As alot of us believe (even me) sushi has alot of sugar in it. It's F#@n hard to eat right But once you start you will feel alot better. ;)

errr, losing bodyfat is as simple as eating slightly less (energy) than you burn (in energy)

The speed at which that energy burns is determined by the type of energy/food and its glycemic index.
THAT is why it is important to have a nutritious diet.

think about this... Farmers don't feed animals fatty foods to fatten them up.. they feed them grains/grass.
that doesn't mean that you should go out and eat heaps of fatty crap.

Just eating healthy isn't enough - you could go on a diet of just vegetables/fruit and some white meat, but if you eat more in energy than you burn then you'll put on weight.  So eat healthy, but don't over do it!

no matter what anybody tells you, it is impossible to lose fat from a specific area (spot reducing)eg. doing situps in an effort to lose your beer gut. BUT.... building/toning muscle will help to speed up your bodies metabolism and burn more energy, so you can either lose more weight or eat more without putting weight on :P

Where the fuck do you get your information from?

my resting heart rate is around 65bpm, and I regularly exercise and have it up around 170bpm for 30 minutes at a time with an occasional maximum of around 195bpm(not for a long period of time)(I know this because I have a heart rate monitor)

I don't see how 120bpm could be deadly for the average person, unless they have a heart condition.  People that are unfit will have there heart rate up at about 120bpm just by walking up one set of stairs.

10 pounds is about 4.6kg, how the fuck is that overdoing it, and how on earth is your body going to produce lactive acid from lifting that much??

lol dude, cardio should be done after your work-out, only a light warm up (5min walk on treadmill) should be about it, anything else your tiring your muscle, ok you want blood flowing but you get that by lifting weights too. Just make sure you strech.

and 120bpm deadly ? lol..

if u want 2 tone up just do 20 odd sit ups each day --> im serious if you do this the excess chubb that is building up around your stomach will over a month gradually disappear and muscle definition / tone will be present.

It ahs been proven to provide tonning attributes and it does work --> i have a nice 6 pack atm. Although, over the past 6 months i have gradually increased it to 50 or 100 per day depending on how it feels.

so it does work --> just hope it helps guys  :)

im sorry for some facts for you,
(You can redicual me as much as you like but ill just come back as we do the germans never give up).
U need red meat im sorry if you think you dont but i have been hiking for along time it does help.
(So does vida fresh),
Any how i'am not sure what sports this person does at all.
number two too say to someone do 21's that is completly stupid!,
In a ideal world maybe any one could be able to do 7 , 7, 7 but mainy people can thats short lift too stomich then 7 from stomich to cheast then all the way 7.
But im sure you knew that of course.
maybe those who use steriods have small arms with big cheast.
In the body building comps the back of the arm is the hardest point for steriod frecks to build up.
and if you want to be able to lift more simple have no orgasm for 6 mnths it will give you lets say natural steriods that the body creat's.
maybe thats why 5 year old's have so much energy.
number three if you do need help i do have people who can help you if you need it!.
my resting heart is at around 87 bpm cycling at for around 10 minutes it is at around 210 bpm.
Yes i know i do have a heart problem course of meds and alc. and other things.
But i can still sprint a bike on hill!
What's one thing that keep's me going that i can see you harf a mile behind. what makes me said that i just blew my engine again and im stuck with no ride again

ok, here's my bit....

if u wanna tone up and get "fit", get urself some weights, or better yet, join a gym! U'll start off using lighter weights doing higher reps - ie: 3 or 4 sets 12-15 repititions. This is a super way to start to tone up and u'll get ur technique correct - which is super important! Swimming is all round goodness for ur body as its VERY low impact, works cardio and arms. If u do join up at a gym, then there's the obvious advantage of having a program tailored to what u want to get out of ur workouts. also trainers/instructors at the gym r great motivators!

if u wanna just do stuff from home: try running 100m, walking 100m (recovery), running, walking, repeat.... then u can increase that to 100m running, "recover", 200m run, recovery, 300m run, etc.... up to 500m, then back down again; ie: 500m, 400m, 300m.... over time ur body will adapt to this new need for energy and thus u will giv u energy and u'll find u'll be able to smash exercise even after workin 12 hrs!

try varying things up a bit by riding/running/swimming.... ahh.... running at the beach is good as there's the extra option to run on sand, often there r stairs which r good to run up and down. Then at the end of ur run, there's the option for a ocean/bay swim! If riding, when u get to a hill try and stay in the hardest gear possible without losing too much cadence, and just spin hard! but it is better to giv up cadence for power! then as u get over the hill just don't spin freely thinkin "yes, the hil is over, can relax." Try and regain speed once over the hill and power on. after even the first week or so, u'll notice the difference.

depending on how "fit" u r, will depend how quickly u'll tone up and lose weight. ie: if on a rating from 0-10 - with 0 being the worst ever fitness, 10 being super fit - say if ur about 0 or 1, and u start to hit the exercise, then u'll notice results relatively quite quickly ie: within 1-2 wks! but if ur like 7 or 8, then cos ur body is used to smashing out execise, then it takes relatively longer for u notice results and feel stronger.

ahhh.... i could go on 4eva bout this fitness stuff (as i've been hitting the gym and sporting stuff for AGES) but really u'll just get bored and can't b f%&ked to read it all.... it happens to me all the time! but any comments, suggestions, quieries are welcome as i like to share info regarding sporting life as i rekon its super important!

anyhow, good luck with it all, peace out!
If somebody asks you, "can I ask you a question?" and you say, "no",  you're actually answering a question. Think about it....

Boxing training.....

Find yourself a boxing trainer/gym and train like a boxer.   You don't have to spar, you will get fitter and more muscular in a shorter period of time than any other style of training. It's addictive, fun, technical and an awesome challenge.  Boxers are the  ultimate athletes.

If you are going to do weights, all you have to do is bench press, chinups, deadlifts, and squats. Two sets each, to failure. Be honest with yourself, and eat like a horse. Don't wast time with supplements.

Steamed veggies and steak, chicken or tuna to cut up.  Steamed veggies, pasta or rice, steak , chicken or tuna to bulk up. Eat every two hours.  Six meals a day.

Train hard, be honest with yourself and give it six months.

I wouldnt agree at all about the weights. That is great for when you are first starting up, to build your core strength, but not for proper development.

If you want good all round muscle development you need to isolate the major groups...

Calves, Thighs and Quads, Back (Upper/Lower and middle), Abs, Chest(Upper/Lower, Inner and outer), Arms (Bi/Triceps), Shoulders (Deltoids).

With a simple routine, you can get decently sized, but you wont be all round. Ive seen guys with huge backs and chests... but their shoulders (particularly rear deltoids) are tiny as... cause they never trained them (all the exercises you mentioned dont work them out).

Guys like the 'negger say global workout programs are useless, individually developed routines with specific targets are the way to go.

The Nissubishda will live....

at the moment I do sweet fuck all exercise and I haven't for well over a year now, but I'm just starting to get back into it. Always been a good swimmer (and fast :D - did inter school swimming this year after not training for a year and pulled a 30.60 for 50m free (weighed like 110kg at the time), PB of 28.33 when i was in year 11) so I've started swimming 3 times a week at about 3km each session.

Also going to start jogging in the mornings... maybe 3km's 3 times a week and once I get my aerobic fitness back I'll goto 5-7km.

Never been into weights etc. Because It's not like i need to bulk up at all, but I might try and get into it.

I'll be taking before and after photos (for my own reference more then anything else) and will try n update my progress :)

Slow fucker :P... 28.10 was mine in year 11 :P

If you get back into swimming a fair amount, that will be enough for 'bulking up' anyway.  I've never known a 'small' serious swimmer.

After my exams are over i will be hitting up the gym again, until i get full time work. Even then, i hope to continue a good program (no homework finally). At the moment, just cricket 3 times a week...

Since I finished school last year, I have been laying into the KFC, Maccas, Hungry Jack's, and pretty much any fast food available to me. I was also having a very large coffee for any long, boring lecture I had to sit through. Adds to 8 a week, plus two days of an office job. That's a lot of caffiene. The only exercise I was doing was a leisurely walk from the bus station to uni (about 5 blocks, diagonally) as I was reveling in the novelty of having lifts to get to class. I also got my license and car, so yeah, no exercise at all. Also started going out when my parents went on holidays, and drinking like it was schoolies week.. for 3 weeks. =not a good idea.
I added 20% of my body weight. I'm pretty skinny, but that's a massive weight gain however you look at it!
So I've decided to get healthy.
I'm working on cutting down on saturated fats, so even though I'll still have a glass of milk or cheese if I feel like it, I'll eat soy if I'm just craving a snack and I try to keep animal products to one meal and one snack a day. I go for the salad sandwich option rather than the creamy pasta or pizza. If I'm feeling particularly enthusiastic between classes, I run up and down stairs. I look like a fool, but it's a great workout. I also stretch and do yoga for an hour or so every second night, depending on how enthusiastic I feel. I'm also starting up on horse riding lessons again this weekend, so my thighs are going to be super-toned and my posture is going to be stellar.
I generally try to be the designated driver these days (cheaper, you don't make a fool of yourself, and you're the legend at the end of the night, meaning everyone buys your mocktails for you =P)
