Well, don't know if any of you guys read the underdrive pulley thread on NSE, but who would be interested in some lightweight pulleys for the ka24e? just need to gather an expression of interest....

sssgtr have you organised those pulleys yet. i will be interested after xmas sometime, but depending on price i suppose. how much for the pulleys anyway? i read in the lates fast fours mag that they rate a good set of lightweight pulleys at approx 9kw gain on a lancer...i think it was a lancer.

One of my mates at uni has a metal lathe in his garage (as well as a milling machine etc) so after my exams i'll be pulling the water pump pulley to get the exact dimensions, finishing up the design and then passing it onto my mate who'll fabricate them for me...as for price, i'm not sure how much the aluminium is gonna cost me. I still want to get them dyno'd first before passing them onto anyone else, as well as some more extensive testing.

um, what are lightweight pulleys?

If they increase performance, count me in too. About how much roughly?

The pulleys are made out of light 6061 T6 Aluminum, it's nice n light and strong, it reduces parasitic power losses from having to try and rotate a heavier weight.
Expect them to cost no less than $50 EACH at this stage. It could end up being more.

me either hey joczy?
Im thinking its kindda like this:
If The engine has to turn a pulley, which turns something else....it can do so without trouble.
If that pulley is lighter however, it is easier to turn, more effeicent, spins quicker etc.
I think it can only be a good thing right? As long as it is strong enough and doesnt break!

No it's not a pain to install them, just tricky if you haven't done a water pump pulley before. Still hafta see how they go on my own car yet.
The lighter pulleys have lower rotational inertia (an object's reluctance to rotate), therefore they present less of a drain to drive that particular accessory.
