Pulsar SSS

What would people think about swapping the ca20e for the 2.0 that lives in Aus spec pulsar SSS's?  They put out over 100kW and are fairly easy to mod to some decent power.  Cheaper than a turbo, but I don't know enough about the engine.  Anyone?

ok, i'm probably just repeating things that i've already mentioned to you over the email, but basically, the engine is as follows..

sr20de non turbo, makes 105kw, for a good front cut your looking at around $1000-1500

install process would obviously be similar to an sr20det swap, but without the turbo plumbing. (i.e. you need new mounts etc)

on the otherhand, i have been told that the ca20e has identical mounts to the ca18de, so for a little more money ($1500-2000) for the engine, you then have 130kw, and for realtaively tiny money, you can get the ca18det to 225kw with no internal modifications..

even more to think about for you  :-/

Another option is the FJ20 motor
CA18 series would be easiest conversion though
SR20 would be seriously sick - Especially if you put turbo model in as these are the same motors as the 200SX`s have and i can lead you on a path of extremely good mods for this

What budget are you looking for though - this will limit you to which one goes in

R31 Pintara's were RWD, the U12 which about 99% of us own are FWD. the FJ would never fit in a transverse mounting.

I think there is about 2 R31 owners here, but like i said 99% are fwd u12 owners.
The CA18DET is definetly a cheaper and easier conversion.

I have said this a few times to various people.

Getting a SR20DE would be a good easy option, just for the motor and the loom etc.. you would be looking at around $1200 and then another $200 for the g.b. or the front cut option whatever is cheaper.

They are lighter, heaps lighter more power and fuel economy is excellent.... with one of those an exhaust and a pod you would prolly beat most trx's.

My bro has a pulsar with a sr20de just with an exhaust, I get him off the line but by the time we get to around 80 he gets ahead of me. My clutch is on the way out and slips a bit but it is close.
CA18det is a a good option but the thing is they will make yer insurance go up heaps.

And when you can buy U12 bluebird attessa's with the CA18det in it for around $7,000 then that is a cheap performance option.
