Clutch Stock & HD
« on: May 4, 2011, 11:36PM »
In my U12 I bought an Exidy HD clutch (nice pink one) about 4 years ago... its now on its last legs.  I went to buy another because it has done me well, but was shocked to be quoted $360... I got it for about $200 all those years ago!
So I got a standard stock replacement because it was $220.

I got thinking... the HD I believe has a higher clamping force on the clutch cover... can i use my pretty pink HD clutch cover with the new OEM clutch disk?
The alignment tool and spigot bearing are the same for both, and both use an organic disk... any reason why this shouldnt work?

I suppose the disk compounds could be slightly different HD v Stock?

Yep different material on the plate between HD and stock. I would imagine the extra clamping force would wear through the stock clutch disc much quicker.

Clutches on US eBay are around $180 for a HD. Keep in mind the aus $$$ is up 10cents on the US at the moment.

i know it's and old post but i just got my exedy hd from zedz clutch & brake for $290inc. ($270 cash)
the "disk" feels a lot different to a stock one, as kranz mentioned i can see the cover chewing threw the stock disk very quickly.
NO! it's NOT a fucking SR20!!

That's a good price, I was quoted $325 for the HD.  In the end I kept the hd clutch in as it has plenty of meat on it.
