Bluebird 5 stud conversion
« on: Dec 22, 2009, 07:00PM »
hey guys i was dickin around at work tonite thought i would go upstairs and see if we had a hub so i could start my brake conversion, well i found 2 and guess what they mesure up the same as mine but are 5 stud , they are from a maxima, and the rear from a maxima will fit FWD cars, and the rear centre hub on a S14 will slot in a AWD rear hub but in 5 stud, no shonky redrilling of hubs, god you have to love Nissan. then i went searching for so photos and found this, a how too with all the bits you need mentioned.

http://www.supernissans.net/forums/1993-2001-1st-2nd-gen-nissan-altima-faq/296-5-lug-conversion.html

So i had to share it with my Brothers and Sisters here, just think you can go and buy any wheel to put on your car in 5x114.3, bigger disc's allround, just need to figure how to run an inboard handbrake, so we can use vented rotors and twin spots on the rear, leave it with me i will work it out. i have some S15 rear hubs at work to play with. GO ME!!!!!

What caliper brackets? If you are only changing the hub, the bracket which is cast into the knuckle doesn't change, and nissan 4 piston calipers bolt up no problem. You saw them on my black car a while ago remember?

In my old TRX thread I posted a bunch of info on this a while ago. While I never fitted or tested anything too much, I did a close comparison of U12 and J30 hubs - both front and rear - and as far as I could determine, they were identical. Except for the studcount, of course.

you could adapt a handbrake to use the same lines as the normal brake and just put a hydraulic handbrake in it      only problem ive been able to uncover with this is if you leave your handbrake on and step on your brake you may burst the lines
id rather be sideways

Yeah thanks for that Rake, it was your research which made me actually try it with success.  AWD I thought would have been a bit trickier, but good stuff Lgee for getting onto that one for us too!
