Wha't so ford about the ford except for decals?  ::)

V8SC is a shit motorsport event, it's all media crap. Half the cars in the paddock use another teams settings.

CAMS should change the rules and open the field up to more manufacturers.
If they want to reduce costs which they do. Then use " off the showroom floor " cars modified for safety. Then give the teams some working area in which to make performance modifications, ie; braking, steering, suspension,

I still don't know why they don't just mandate certain technologies in racing series so all the money that goes into development is also developing a new technology. I can't believe they're still pussy footing around kinetic energy retention devices for F1. Just tell them they have to use Fuel Cells in 2 years and the only fuel they're getting is Hydrogen gas. Then watch them go nuts developing new tech for our roadcars.

You probably couldn't do the same thing with the V8s, but can't we at least get them using methanol or something?

I eat my words, turns out they'll be using E85 Ethanol blend in the V8s next year.

And I'm trying to download the V8factor mod for rFactor so I can get some laps in at Bathurst before watching the race tomorrow, but it's going soooo slowly.

F1 could very well make the move away from a gas propulsion engine. At the moment all the teams have said the kinetic systems they are using are too heavy so the extra performance is minimal or zero. 2-3 years they will be more efficient then later put in road cars. Kinetic recovery with a different engine plant, hydrogen electric or whatever will come in 10 years.

They both suck BUT i hate fords less

Good job Craig three in a row!!!

They will never bring the skylines back to the track cause the V8s just don't have a hope of competing against them. ;)

4wd vs 2wd
650hp vs what is it 700hp?

Easy to see why they cant keep up

they are actually limited to 650hp for racing, so if the 'lines came back they would have the same restrictions, the big reason why the 'lines ate everyone is cause they could keep more speed through the bends and rev quicker and build speed quicker if they slowed compared to their RWD counterparts

they won't open up to any other manufacturers because of all the bogans out there who bitched and complained about the skylines, and about mitsu a few years back when they said they would release an 8 so they could enter the series, it's the die hard blue and red fans that are stopping the sport from progressing

I think it would be alot more exciting with a least one other make in the series, but Weasel your right its the "bogans" that dont want it cause nothing can be better than thier "falcodorres"

i read an article/interview a few years back on this subject, interviews were with holden, ford and whoever heads up v8 supercars..

suprisingly, holden said they were keen on having mitsu get into the v8's.. however ford and the ceo/whatevery of the v8 supercars said they werent keen.. bit dissapointed with ford on that one.

i watched some nascar/pro street truck or something like that a few weeks back, the yanks are racing toyota camrys and toyota tacomas (hilux) in the comps against the usual ford & chev cars.. it was so refreshing to see something different, just a huge shame that americans race around oval tracks.. blegh! boring!

yep, the 5L v8, ford 9" diff, pretty much project blueprint but a 380.
