Hey guys,
I put new whiteline swaybars on the front (24mm) and rear of my U12 a few months ago. I've only just noticed that on full lock, the front tyres are actually rubbing on the bar. I originally thought that I had misaligned the bar when I originally put it on, but have since ruled that out.
I noticed that the Whiteline bar doesn't have the kink in it where the original one has. Is this the same as other whiteline front bars?
I've done a search and the front, like most, was a pain in the butt to fit, but didn't come across anyone with issues regarding the tyres rubbing on the bar.
I'm also running 205/50/16's. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem?
Cheers,
Rob

Not the hitting of the bar with the tyres mate, but the front bar is a total [language filter smackdown] to fit.
Its obviously not designed perfectly and its alignment or something is just that little bit out on the U12's.
-
my 24 has no'kink' nor did the standard, just the u shape. the nrear had a 'kink' . no contact issues with 215 40 17. not to sure what you mean by the kink.
-
Sorry, the 'kink' isn't a very descriptive term is it? lol.
My standard one has the bits that connect to the link pins slightly bent out more from the rest of North-South running ends of the bar (so it's not really a 'kink', fail on the original description). Hard to describe, I'll have to take a photo of it on the weekend. I'll have to rip the whiteline one out anyway to take a better look at it.
Hmm, if you're not having contact issues with 215's then I should have a fair bit of room then.. Thanks for the replies guys, sorry if this makes less sense than the original post, just got home from work and I'm knackered. Can't say some of us public servants aren't committed :D
Cheers.

how far do your wheels stick in? as in offset?
-
Rims are CSA NOS and, from memory, have an offset of +45.
-
not installed upside down is it? the front whiteline bar is very easy to install upside down.
i have no scrubbing either.. i have +43 offset 17 x 7's with 205/45s on them.

Just took a couple of photos of the bar and the link pins for reference. As far as I'm aware, the bar is the correct way up (let me know if I've goofed it up).

Hummm, looking back at the shitty pics I have... it looks correct to me!
-
I had an issue with mine where I had the link pins the wrong way around so one side sat further out then other but it was scrubbing on the control arm moreso than the tyre.
-
Thanks Budgie.
Kranzy, the link pins sit inside the sway bar (as per photo 2), correct? I was thinking that I could have had them the wrong way around, hence it was pushing out a little.
-
I cant remember off the top of my head, ill have a look see at mine tomorrow and take a few snaps for you.
-
Thanks Kranzy, just had a look at the Corsair FSM (should have done that first, hey) and the diagrams all point to the link pins being on the inside of the sway bar.
Cheers mate.
-
Just for future reference. I have been in contact with Whiteline and they have discontinued the production of sway bars for the U12 and have no front sway bars left in stock (not sure about rears though).
Cheers,
Rob
