Were you the one using all the 240SX stuff for the turbo setup or was that someone else?

Oh that's right. The DE head. You were using SOHC pistons for 11.0:1 CR right? I've actually started hunting for a DE head too.

You will need:
DE head
DE exhaust manifold
DE Chains and Guides
DE intake manifold
93 Altima Starter
93 Altima Hitachi Distributor
Spark plugs that are one step colder
Altima plug wires
You will have to do a few modifications ( make plate to cover DE head over hanging the E front cover and a plate to cover E heater line inlet) i have pics of that when you need it let me know
There is more to know like the wiring of the distributor which i will upload later when you need it.
If you run into anymore problems let me know!

Yeah, knew about the cover that needs to be made up. If you could post pics that'd be awesome.
I actually plan on adapting the E distributor to the DE head so i can run the E ecu and Live Edit.
Exhaust manifold, well, it's getting a huge ass turbo so that's all good.
Intake manifold, again, it'll be custom as i will be running ITB's (http://www.antrx.com/smf/index.php?topic=6082.0).
But yeah, knew about the other stuff that would need to be changed.

Are you using the SOHC ecu or the DOHC one?

And i also wish you luck when you go to crank it over for the first time and that it starts no problems. I would expect however that it'll take a bit longer to crank over because of the higher compression.

I'm using the sohc ecu due to the fact that i didn't want to change it and the wiring harness.
The sohc distributor wil not fit and there is no modifiying it. Trust me i tried. So what i did was check the voltage output of both distributor signal wires (the 1 degree signal and the 180 degree signal) they both vary from 0 to 5 volts so it should work. I also made sure that they spin the same speed and they do so it will work. YOU CAN THANK THE NISSAN FSMs FOR THAT INFO! The fuel injectors also have the same high impendence range. So there you have it!

That would be sick to drive with some boost though, i thought about a low boost (<10psi) high comp motor, it'd be so torquey and responsive, perfect for the track. BUT a bad tank of fuel and the fun would be over quick smart.

ITS ALIVE!!!! At 330pm EST the ka24 officially cranked up! Now all i have to do is officially seal that leak at the top timing cover.
FYI the DE distributor is a direct swap in other words it works without changing the ecu!

Timing cover leak = oil.
When a DE head is swapped to the E block, a section of the timing cover needs to be fabricated as the E cover doesn't mate up to the DE head.

Once i fix my digital camera i'll get you all a more updated shot but for the most part this swap was a cake walk (cept for the installation of the lower timing chain, that was a bitch!). all i did was splice  the feul injectors wires into the existing harness and did the same with the distributor. I'll do a full write up in a few days.

I'm could be looking at getting an engine rebuild soon.

Doing this would be nice......

I could leave the hubcap hidden steelies on and the buggered paint for a while and enjoy a sleeper :)

You will need:
DE head
DE exhaust manifold
DE Chains and Guides
DE intake manifold
93 Altima Starter
93 Altima Hitachi Distributor
Spark plugs that are one step colder
Altima plug wires
You will have to do a few modifications ( make plate to cover DE head over hanging the E front cover and a plate to cover E heater line inlet) i have pics of that when you need it let me know

So basically you get all of the listed parts and they'll bolt straight up?

If so, then all we need to know is how to make these cover plate things, and fix the timing cover leak?

If I were getting some kind of rebuild I'd love to just plop on a DE head if it sounds as simple as it does, rather than just reco'ing my existing one! I need reliability though as I require my car for work.

It'd also be great if we could get some kind of power specs from doing this swap.

Ooo ooo Pick and Paymore. Hmmm. I'm 5 minutes away literally.

If I'm up for an engine rebuild or some other major overhaul I wouldn't mind chucking on a DE head.

Mine. MINE!!

I'd love to see a writeup, even if only brief for the short-term!!

SSS: Your considering doing this yes? Any clue what'd be necessary for rego, insurance, etc?

hehehe...i'm not considering it, i am doing it, it's just a matter of finding a complete head.
Ummm...not sure about insurance, but i could care less anyway, i'm going with just cars soon, and you only have to tell them about it.
Rego, as long as it doesn't leak anything you'll pass RWC, after all it is still the same engine.

IF i can find one and others want to go the same route, it's possible i can fabricate a whole bunch of custom upper covers to cover the transition from the DE head to the E block.

the DE swap is a definate for me as well. i've had enough of the problem with my head. i can't run at the sprints as it is.
it has also done it at the hillclimb a couple of times. that's why i'm goin to the drags more, it's OK in a straight line.

I'm just wondering if you'd need to get it engineered or whatever.

But if I'm up for an engine or head rebuild, I'm just thinking, why not chuck on a DE head instead? A tad extra cost and modification, but otherwise.

I checked that partsfind.com vector searched with. The wrecker down the road apparently has the U13 bluey, but colour says "BURNT". Kinda has me worried about it's condition :-\

Dont the DE heads have a differeent exhaust manifold.  The E exhaust wont fit on them... so for turbo you would need to make up a new manifold, or get one from the states.

The flanges i need to get re-cut are the EXHAUST flanges.

Interesting. Why didn't you use the whole DE front timing cover?

because I think the DE blocks are different.  My sump system is way different in the DE, it doesnt hang down like the E sump.  I belive it is just the block shape that requires the timing plate to be mod'd, most likely to fit in the extra spacing of the timing chain due to the DOHC.
Thats my guess anyway.

zac, like hellman said, it just doesn't fit unfortunately.
it only needs a small upper cover fabricated to fill the gap between the DE head and the E cover.
