Hi all. I had the starter motor recon'd in my '91 Attesa and since then the idle has been lumpy.
More than this though, there is a profuse fuel smell external to the cabin, majoritively near the exhaust, and possibly a little from the engine bay (it's hard to tell because it becomes quite a fog of fuel smell all around the car quite quickly when engine is running), which also was not present previously.
After idling at my destination(to cool turbo), if exiting the cabin straight away it smells like I've been idling in a closed garage or the like!
These are all new symptoms just from gettin the damn starter recon'd (that'll learn me I guess!).
Prior to this starter recon, the car idled perfectly, didn't have fuel smell, and as far as I'm aware the entire car is stock.
I have been back to my mechanic and yet he can't figure out what he has done wrong.
He mentioned the removal of the extractors assembly(east west oriented motor) for access to the starter motor and the detachment of hoses/pipes etc...
I feel it may be something as simple as mixing up a couple of hoses, but don't know where to start...
Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Matt.
