Side mouldings 1990 Pintara Ti
« on: Nov 2, 2005, 06:03PM »
Those damn moulding strips that go round the car bug me.  They are black with a silver strip thru the middle of them, and the silver strip is plastic coated or something and it's all peeled off.  Anyone else have this problem ??

I'd like to fix them...I was thinking of pulling the rest of the plastic stuff off and using a plastic paint to paint the middle bit silver again. Does anyone know if this will work, or has anyone else got any bright ideas for making them look better ?? And no, I don't wanna pull them off !

I also have a Ti and have the same problem. :'(
I've thought about pulling off all the peeling silver and replacing it with silver pinstripe.
I have'nt got around to try it yet but the paint idea sounds good too...
We're here for a good time, not a long time.

So hold on bitches.....

I just sat there and picked at the plastic film one day after washing my car. I got all the daggy bits off and it looks alot better, nowhere near perfect though.

If I was to do it properly, I'd pick off all the plastic and spray the strips with chrome paint.

Im pretty sure that it will be flat underneath the stripping. So when it comes time for a respray mine will be coming off and staying off.

I think the easiest and cheapest way to fix it is sand off the paint and mask off around and spray.
I think i'll do that!
When I get it done (late december- haha) i'll put some pictures up if ya'll want!

cruiser, yours is slightly different to the Ti side mouldings... the Ti's have a silver leaf over layed (chrome look)...
i sat one day and stripped mine all off, looks 100% better, even though its not painted yet...

enamel spray in a pressure pack (spray can)... u can pick it up from autobarn or super cheap...

mask the are around the stripe then spray it on... be sure to do it in a place where there is minimal wind/breeze, like in your garage...
