Rims
« on: Sep 23, 2005, 10:44PM »
Well im thinking of getting some rims for my pintara not 100% sure if i will or not but i just thought id ask peoples opinions on what these specific rims would look like on a pintara (or rims of the same style)

http://www.ozzytyres.com.au/images/mag/mag_14_34_bg.jpg   (18s)

i reckon theyd look nice especially if i lowered the car a lil bit

your opinions are greatly appreciated

too much bling, i really dont think they would suit a pinny, in all honesty, go for a 5 or 6 spoke rim, i recon they look and suit the car far better

Must agree with SSStick, just too much bling for a pinny. That would suit a Mercedes more.

i dare-say that i'll hav to go with the general consensus, and say that they will not suit the pinny at all. but then again, u could get em and prove us all wrong!  :P

go for the traditional 5 spoke, or personally i'd go 6 or 7 spoke - i've got me eye on a few already  ;D

good luck with the decision, be sure to put up pics of ur ride when all done

another on the other side of the fence. i'm sure they'd look nice on a benz, but it's a bit too much for us i think. i have a set of  5 spoke with a polished lip, not too flashy, but has a bit of bling

I agree with the others, I've always preffered 4 to 5 spoke rims with really thin but well designed & simple spokes... one of the main reasons for this is because they'll be easier to clean than rims with more spokes or less spokes with more surface area like the one you've suggested!

i rekon CSA has sum pretty quality wheels:

http://www.csawheels.com.au/main.asp?Page1=current_styles.asp

I'm thinking maybe (from top ----> down): Pursuit or Dominators (CSA Wheels); Shift R (ROH Wheels); MR7 or Trak Lite 2 (Motegi Racing, both come in either black or silver) for my car

yeah i'm thinkin about gettin MR7's in hyper black, also don't think that the Trak Lite's will fit unless you do sum guard rolling or whatever.

ahh, got no idea how much they'd be, expensive i'd imagine. I'm only lookin around atm, as i don't have the $$$$ yet, but at the end of the year should hav enuf to get rims and a suspension upgrade.

whenever i do get around to purchasing, i'll get sum figures and post em

Damn we've got similar taste.

I infact saw a set of rims which looked just like these M7's, I think they were cheaper knockoffs (had DRIFT R on the centre), at tyrepower blacktown .. But if they sell them in a package or something, I reckon they could be affordable, as genuine stuff is always exxy.

Simple, thin, clean 7 spokers, silver or shadow = oh yeah.

I like the stock TRX wheels, but they're narrow, very few tyre choices available, and only 14" (which can hamper more major brake upgrades, etc). Unfortunatly they havn't really been able to keep up with changes and trends I guess :-\

Those kind of rims don't suit the trx unless you have a decent paint job/body kit...

not to be a tall poppy or ba$tard or anythin, but i think we're talkin about the the rims that i posted last nite (or whenever)

also Rake: "Drift R" sound like sumthin that ROH does, as it sounds familiar when i was lookin at their website and majority of their "street" wheels end in a "R"

i like the look of those rims, but shudder at the thought of those on a u12/UA... (rims in first post)

go down to some tyre joints and ask around, you may find a good set of 2nd handies that look micky mouse and suit the car, but until you see them on the car, you wont know what they are gonna look like... too many people fk up by buying rims that look good.... when they are on stands in a showroom

definately agree. tho on the bob jane t-mart, CSA and Motegi Racing website, u they have a "virtual wheels" thingy where u can pik ur car and see what different rims will look like. Tho CSA and Motegi don't hav TRX's as a template car, but Bob Jane does. Motegi also have a Nissan Sentra (or sumthing like that) which KINDA looks like a pinny.

anywho, i'm all in favour of gettin 6 or 7 spokes for me TRX (all this wheel talk makes me wish i had the money to go get what i want....  :'()

Does anyone here work in a beaurepairs or similar wheel & tyre shop in the Sydney area... I'm gonna be in the market for a full set of rims and rubber soon.

edit: otherwise does anyone know of some cheaper places around Sydney that wouldn't overcharge like a tyre shop in the lower North Shore would?? Any good/cheap shops out around you Rake?

edit2: what do you guys think of this rim Apec Septick: http://www.stgeorgetyres.com.au/SeptickS.html
bungs has them on his car http://www.antrx.com/mr/display.php?id=58
I really really really like 'em. bungs would you mind if I used the same set of rims [at the moment it's purely speculation as I don't have the cash for new rims]

I reckon those rims look damn good, especially against the gunmetal of Bungs' car.

As for the shops around Sydney, your better off putting that in the NSW section mate.

Those rims look really good mate. I wouldnt worry too much about whether or not someone else has them, your car your money, but its nice that you have asked him.

Shop around though, and dont forget, if you find the right place they will allow you to test fit a few different styles.

Don't know of any good priced places around here tim - never been wheel shopping before. I'm going to see about the price of those Shift R's (or whatever theyre called, the sexy 7 spoke ones) tomorrow at Tyrepower blacktown, I'm getting a wheel balance and stuff done for the track.

I love the wheels bungs got. He got them for a good price too, they're definatly one of my options.

Tyrepower blacktown, bloke said ('off the top of his head') $260 per rim. Just a touch over a grand for the wheels, which isn't too bad, but then you have to factor in tyres and such, so you could be looking at anywhere from ~$1,500 to over 2 grand depending in what you wrap them in.

They're a new wheel from a seemingly reputable / experienced manufacturer though, I guess you get what you pay for (when compared to your 1-grand common chrome cheapie deals from Tempe).

Maybe somewhere else does em cheaper though.

Dumb edit: This is in relation to the Shift R's

here's a pic of my new rims.

They're Rozzi 16x7 6-spokers which I had powdercoated white. I was looking at CSA pursuits but these suit the car better IMO. Mine is the red TRX btw.

Ewwww to the chrome wheels in the 1st post...

The only rims i have liked in this thread so far are the BSA ones posted by Kranzy...

I have my preference too though, i like the Speedy Holotype-R's that are on my Nissan EXA (17's). They have the same stud pattern as my corsair but i havn't gotten around to seeing what they look like on there yet.

the "chome" wheels are APEC Septik shadow chrome. They actually look pretty wicked on the car. Can't really see them in the photo.

... my Nissan EXA ...

Nice taxi :P

I'm considering some 15" black 5-spokes with polished outer rims, same colour as 92STANZA's rims, but the spokes are a kind of rounded design, I reckon I could get them for about $200. They're apparently off a Silvia, but they're on a 323 panelvan now.

Yeh, these are the wheels on bungs car that I salivate over every time I see them... all my tyres are beginning to get bald so I'm gonna upgrade, hopefully, to these septik's when I get new tires too.

Alright alot of those rims are pretty hot but how much extra does it cost to change the barrels and that to fit a rim with more than 4 studs. Coz i was always told its not worth the hassal and the largest we are supposed to get in nsw is 16 inch right but would 17's get noticed by cops

Don't bother changing the hubs over to 5 studs. Just get your fully sik chromies drilled to your stud pattern by the shop.
