Front U13 Suspension Review.
« on: Apr 26, 2012, 10:58AM »
As some of you may know, recently I had fitted the U13 Front Tokico blue struts with Matching 30mm lowered springs to the front of the u12.

Now results:
Height:
U13 struts and 30mm lowered springs - 95ish mm clearance from cross member.
U12 struts and 30mm loweed springs - 120ish + mm
U12 struts and superlows - 110mm

Front is also alot stiffer due to the much wider strut/spring setup on the u13.
Height will obviously vary from different wheel size etc..

This is due to the length of the actualy u13 strut housing being shorter than the u12. Another pro for this is that you can get lower without fucking the front LCA geometry no where near as much as u12 superlows or ultralows which still arent as low.

Will add pics after rear superlows are installed. Before later doing the Coilover sleeve kit.

Hope this helps anyone, SSS you may be interested as I seen awhile ago you wanted custom 25mm lowered springs to not fuck your control arm geometry.

Good stuff mate, glad to see some one is playing around with suspension stuff!

Tempting to get some for the daily...although strangely for a standard ride height...it scrapes on some stuff...

S14 front coilovers.

Just to add to this, I installed s14 front coils, Fully threaded body for individual height adjustment.
Measured the fender arch height of 26" before install after install had a height of 24 1/2"

Stiffer ride on 10k springs, less body roll. Camber plates are a great addition handling wise.
They perform well, but I'm not worried about performance as much as some of you are as I am going for a custom look. One future problem that I can see is the front lower control arm is very close to hitting the body of the car and the lower I go the closer it'll be.

Not exactly. There are two things you have to do.

1.You have to ovalize one of the mounting holes since u12s have equidistant bolts compared to the s13/14 which have one bolt offset a bit compared to the other two.
My pic

2. You HAVE to get coils that have a flat mounting bracket. like these

If you try to install these (below) that have an protrusion below the mounting bracket it won't fit due to clearance of the Axle
