Title: Attn audio dudes:
Post by: hrmmmm on Jul 19, 2009, 06:07PM
Hi all,

The in dash 6 stack cd player in my suby has stopped working, strange as it seems one minute it was working then it stopped reading the cd's, you can't here it cycle through the bank to try to eject the cd's, it seems there is no power to that part of the radio/cd player, am/fm and everything else works, just not the 6 stacker. A well respected/known car audio specialist in Toowoomba thinks the load plates have packed it in, he wants $44 to have a look plus what ever the replacement parts are worth.
Is this reasonable, what are your opinions, does anyone know someone who could do it cheaper (either word of mouth or actually works in the field)

I live in plainland (40mins to ipswich or toowoomba,1 1/4 hour to rocklea/bris and 2 hour to gold coast) , so will prob have to travel.
i.e:if a bloke in brissy can do it for $35, i have to spen $15 on fuel so I actually spend more, but if the same bloke did it for $20 then i would travel.

 Thanks all

From experience, stackers are not worth the trouble trying to fix.

Just go to the wreckers and get a replacement, or hit subaru up, it will work out cheaper and easier in the long run

A mobile audio dude from toowoomba came to work today and removed the radio/stacker, he just did one recently and it cost $200, which seems reasonable to me.
