U13 SSS Seats
« on: Sep 30, 2005, 07:22PM »
As some of you may know, I picked up some SSS series 2 front seats from the wreckers...
The seats are in good condition (no tears, stains, etc) but the bucket on the right side of the drivers seat and the bucket on the left side of the passenger seat is a bit worn down. The foam has partially broken away due to the previous owners obviously dragging their arses over the bucket nearest to the door thus breaking it down over the years.
Is this a common problem with the SSS bucket seats? My LX seats are near perfect but then again they don't have nice big buckets on each side.
Might get new foam put in them.
Cheers.

That is a pretty common problem with all seats.  Even the slight bucket on my LX drivers seat is worn down from constant use, and i guess the more the bucket the more some one is gonna hit their arse on it when getting out! good luck with it anyway!

yeah my series 2 sss seats are like that, its a real pain, coz you can feel the metal underneath them!  >:(

gonna get them refoamed and retrimmed soon, a mate of mine works as an auto trimmer, which is a bonus!

Yeah, you can really fell the metal as you get out of the passenger seat. The driver seat isn't too bad...
Might make some inquiries and see how much it would cost to refoam both seats. Just hope they don't use the shit foam which breaks down after a couple years of use.

Off topic, it's a bit quiet in this forum, I noticed that their were a few different SSS seat trimmings (patterns)...
My series 2 SSS seats are black with an aqua/greenish pattern
Ka-Bluey's SSS seats appear to be black with a dark greyish/blueish pattern.
The SSS seats from Counterpunch's Series 2 SSS Attesa wreck are black with a darkish pattery (if I remember correctly).
And i've seen a few cars on CarSales with black and a light greyish/whitish pattern.

The LX and Ti pattern remained the same throughout the U13 - nanna spec :)

I know this might be a 'late' reply to Alister's post -

Just looking through some of the ones around on Carsales and Auto Trader, I've noticed that the pattern on my seats run like this:
Passenger side:
///

whereas the driver's seat pattern runs like this:
\\\

One particular one on Carsales has both sides running in the /// direction, and it does look much lighter.

(mine are in the pic below).

I have to agree that the bucket side edge can be slightly annoying, as they are actually quite sharp in my car.  They are very comfortable, particularly on long trips, but they get you on the way in or out.

After seeing the LX/Ti seats.... I'm glad I got an SSS! they look so.... plain... (No offence Alister and other LX/Ti owners :P - you still have a really good car! )

Yeah, the SSS seats are nice.
I have an LX and i just think about what the seats are like in other base spec cars from the mid nineties.
I think that the LX / Ti bluebirds fared pretty well. (it could have been a whole lot worse, eg. seats from a vp / vr commodore)
The seats are pretty comfortable and look good when compared to a lot of other cars out there...

Mortz: Yeah the pattern varies, i've seen quite a few different patterns in SSS models...
I have the Series 2 SSS seats which have the same pattern as SSS240s in this pic:

The colours on mine look much more vibrant and much less worn out though...

On the topic of seats, there's a Ti on carsales with leather seats and interior!
Wonder if its standard, my U13 AUS Bluebird Series 1 brochure doesn't mention anything about leather though..

The LX/Ti seats are still excellent seats though :)
They just lack the nice, big, comfy buckets.

Also, I saw a Series 2 Ti the other day and looked inside and the seat fabric looks different but is very similar to the Series 1 LX/Ti.
Same colour fabric/velour but honeycomb interwoven (if that makes any sense). Not as attractive in my opinion.

May be a stupid question, but the SSS seats bolt straight into the LX ? Do any other Nissan seats bolt in? GTiR perhaps?

Yerp, the SSS bolt straight into the LX and Ti.
I'm pretty sure that the ATTESA SSS front seats do but the rear seats definatly do not.
