« on: Apr 27, 2004, 03:26PM »

is it only when you have your steering wheel on full lock?  and is it only when your reversing or does it do it sometimes going forwards?  do you have power steering? i had a similar problem but it was just because of a stuffed high pressure hose but im guessing you dont have it though

an air lock in the fluid (wild guess) like in old houses when you turn a tap on the water and air hammer backwards and forwards.

Well you did ask for ideas...

yeah my car has that too. It is a bad noise. I got a mechanic to check it and he didnt find anything which is annoying coz it sure aint a healthy noise. i am hoping it has something to do with my steering vibrating over 100. I can only hope.

if ur steering is vibrating over 100k's, that should merly be a wheel alignment issue, or whell balance.

I know it SHOULD be wheel alignment and wheel balance but i just got that done with the new suspension. (dont blame it on pedders shocks or i will hurt someone. Is my chasis bent?

I got wheels and suspension done at the same time so that should all be balanced up. How can u tell if the strut is loose?

bahahaha the obivouse answer is usually the right one. If it is really loose u can feel it when u brake heavy. The car will move towards one side of the car. When mine broke under heavy braking the car litterally lunge to the left i did a wtf.

the reason your car feels liek its moving alot is because u r experiencing life with wider tyres. The wider your tyres are the more they move over the bumps

i thought that would be caused by side wall flex, not wider tyres ???

well that does it too. but think about it when u have a bump in the road with skinny tyres it goes sraight over the bump. With wider tyres the car tends to move around on the side of the bump making it feel like the car is moving aound alot. The rear of mine moves around abit in a straight line with the 225s on the back. When i put stockies on it hardly moves at all.

yeah well they are 225 50 r16s on theb ack and 205s on the front. plus higher pressure means better drift.
