FWD KA24's into RWD?
« on: Oct 29, 2010, 08:26AM »
Guys,

The blocks themselves on a KA, is there provision for mountings to be placed in a N-S format? I would check if I still had my engine but i've completely forgotten. Clearly the Navara is the only RWD choice, kind of hard to find one and they only come in SOHC, i'd like to use a DE and just flipit to NS.

Very excitement project coming up :). No not mine! I'm not selling my Honda!#$@!#!@!@ hahah

Oil pickup will be at the front of the motor, which won't be such a good idea for a RWD setup, since the pickup is usually at the rear to stop starvation under acceleration.

You can get around it by using a dry sump and a custom sump pan.

I"m fairly sure the D21's were SOHC and D22's had the DOHC version...

I know the E24 and E25's had the DOHC.. but Aus never got these... pointless info for you that part  :P
Ill fight you. May even throw a bar of soap your way. Maybe a few wax strips and some clip on brembo brake calipers for your fooly sic civic.

It all comes down to the fact im not up on the internet stuff all this having to host my pics on another website to confusing so I just go to bed instead, lol il make an effort to figgure it out in this case tho because its a good cause

What car are you putting it into chris? The Z24 Block will bolt straight up to an datsun L series cross member and the KA Heads wheather it be single or double cam will bolt onto the Z block, the Z block has the distributor hanging out the side so you block up the hole in the back of the head and im running RB CAS out of the old dizzy hole

I tried to fabricate some mounts up for the whole KA24DE engine but failed all of the mounting points are in stupid spots it was easier for me to just make the KA/Z hybrid,

Cant wait to see what you have on the cards  ;D

Will be going into an S14.

Hmm, I wonder what the navara blocks are like?

Worst case scenario, ship a block over from the states.

Yeah you can get the whole kit made up predone in america buy a mob called excessive or something. I'm pretty sure from memory they are the ones who made the custom intake manifold for the turbo DE's motors as well.

Z32 i think are slightly stronger than 25 as they have a wider gear spur from memory, I THINK....

I remember seeing one of those DE Navara KA's at a wrecker about 6 yrs ago....$8k price tag...lol.

Even back then $2k would get you a VH41DE with tranny / ecu etc.
