I went to that game

yep, thay are INSANE, im so ashamed. its a game of sport. we had this fat fucker sitting about 4 seats across and up a row, he was screaming obsenities ALL the time, saying the unpires need to be shot so they squeel like pigs (which i dont appreciate due to my cousion is an umpire) and id like to see him do a better job!! wanker...

we all got stuck into him, port was 5 goals up and hes screaming his head off, saying they suck etc....

they ruin the game as far as im concerned.

if brisbane wins thats not such a bad thing, it gives something for the other teams to acheive. its good for the game in the fact that because they're the team to beat everyone will be playing harder to achieve that this time, and quite possibly next time around. in the end you get a more competitive game.

i think the teams that have fallen behind are the teams that dont care about the game anymore and only care about the money. ceo's that do nothing and are scoring fat pay cheques. unfortunately it happens.

meh. it goes is phases. Lions have made the finals i think its every year since 1997 or something, yet in 1998 (i think it was that year), they came last.
Hawthorn were awesome in late 80s. Carlton were awesome only a few years back. St Kilda were shithouse last year.
As a general rule clubs have their purple patches and then there down moments. It just fluctuates and i think its normal, and good for the game.

As for the Lions being on top for the last 4 years, i dont care if its good or bad for the game, i just like it

well it is really. i'm not saying anything else is the australian game instead of afl.. and yes i know there are a few interstate teams, but, more than two thirds of the teams are based in victoria. i'd say thats pretty much victorian based. wouldnt you?

its just like rugby league is the nsw game even though there is a victorian team, 2 queensland teams and a kiwi team.

Victorians classify themselves as the originators of the afl which is damn funny considering the SANFL (please dont say it as one word like sam newman does. it S A N F L) was created long b4 the VFL existed. Its just that victoria has the best ground in australia to play on so the grand final is there

if we're going to get technical, Australian Rules Football was first played by a bloke named Tom Wills and his friends in the Richmond Paddock on July 31, 1858.

Oh and the South Australian Football Association was formed in May 1877

Browny if you want to get really technical...AFL was originally played up in the northern territory as an aboriginal game. Basically was no rules and they played with a rolled up piece of leather, then a few guys decided to make up some rules to use and walla...the vfl/afl/sanfl was created.

So??? Victoria had the V.F.A. before the V.F.L. its only really a name, the point is Victoria was playing football before South Australia, it could also be argued that Tasmania was playing football before South Australia, but we wont get into that debate

I dont know where he got the info from but when i see him ill ask him. Basically AFL was first played with rules and as a competition in victoria. It could have been played anywhere else before victoria played it but it became an official sport in victoria.

How does brisbane have the furthest to travel out of any team. 75% of games are played in vic. Its not far from brisbane to victoria every week. SA teams have to go much further then brisbane. Then the WA teams have to go further then any other state. Why dont they get extra money???

yeah I didn't really expect Port to win, as they seem to crush under pressure, but they really held their game today and I think they really deserved to win the Premierships. The way it works is if your suspended its however many fixtured games u cannot play. so im guessing if hes playing reserves then he will still have to wait however many games he gets before he plays again.

Put it this way...if your playing u18's and get reported and get a 4 week suspension you have to miss 4 weeks of any footy until your 4 weeks are up. So if you play u18's and seniors you cannot play seniors or u18s untill your u18 suspension is up. Which means if you get 4 weeks and theres a bye in those for weeks he will miss 5 weeks of all footy.

Hope that makes sense.

After talking with my old man about it, who was on the tribunal for the local footy league here, he rekons he'll get a fine and a suspended sentence.

For example,

But yes, if i was a footy player then at the end of the season i would be sinking piss a lot too. I just thought the "maggot every night" scenario was more reserved for the team who won the grand final.

its a load of rubbish the amount of spotlight going to afl players. They should be allowed to go out drinking and partying without being harassed by media and supporters. On the other foot however, is that they should keep some semblance of self control when out doing what they do.

what shocked me though was the paper reporting that 7 of 8 tests conducted in the male toilets at the brownlow showed traces of speed, ecstacy and cocaine
1 out of 6 tests showed the positive results in the female rooms.

I think drinking is a social drug that is shown to be used properly, drugs though are a disgrace to the game, the players and an insult to those that idolise these people.
