Accelerator cable
« on: Jan 5, 2004, 01:45PM »
Where will I find one of these in Adelaide? Mine had decided to fray in the middle and my mechanic says this will restrict some power in the mid to top end range.

I went to a nissan dealership and the guy said they are not stocked or made anymore but they can fit it for me.....

Should I look at a wreckers and how much will the cable cost me?

Thanks

it should cost you stuff all.. and yes, wreckers are the go. try www.apraa.com.au and put in an online parts request.. it seems  to be mostly adelaide wreckers that are part of their network.

Thanks noss...just did it then, $27.50 from City Dismantlers!! That IS stuff all!

Now should I try and fit it or is it advisable I get a mechanic to do it?

well i dont imagine it would be overly hard, but as always if you dont feel confident in doing it yourself, leave it to the pros.

Just an added warning too if the cable is fraying I guess you are talking about the metal cable, it could jam in the outer lining & stick open the butterfly valve (Throttle) hence your car will rev its head off which isnt really nice. So guys if thats the case change it.

Similarly I had my shity ole telstar snap a clutch cable on me in the middle of an intersection on town (HOW EMBARRISING)

Luckily I had ordered one and managed to run to the Ford dealer pick up the cable run back and install it all with those shity little spanners they supply in ya tool kit. I am so glad to have hydrolic in the t'rex
