My new sony system :D
« on: Apr 5, 2006, 03:25PM »
About 2 days ago I purchased myself a whole bunch of Sony stuff, and well I'm more than pleased :P

1x Head Unit - CDXGT250S
    * S-MOSFET 208 Watts Max (52 x 4)
    * Front Aux-Input
    * CD/MP3/WMA/ATRAC3 Playback with ID TAG
    * 24BIT Digital to Analogue Converter
    * Pre-Out x 1 (Rear/Sub Switchable)
    * RM-X151 - Wireless Card Remote (incl.)
    * Display Type - White LED/13 Segment LCD
    * EQ3 - 3Band EQ/7Presets
    * CD-R/RW Playback
    * CD-Text Display/Scroll
    * SSIR-EXA Digital Tuner
    * Preset - FM18/AM12

2x 6" 3-Ways
1x 250W Amp
1x 12" Sub + Special Sony Box

I can't remember what I paid for each piece of hardware specifically, but all up it cost me $695 and if I didn't recieve all these parts on special it would have cost me well over 1100 ;D Not a bad deal!

As for the sound, well in comparison to all my mates systems I'd say I'm happy thats for sure :P
And I finally dont have to listen to radio cause the Head Unit can play mp3/burnt CD's!

P.S. Yes the amp mounting looks very dodgy :P

Yeah, it does look like a very decent setup...

What kind of speakers have you got up front? Standard?

That is rather neat amp mounting, all it needs is some charcoal grey carpet ;)

Gotta love the front aux. input on the new Sony units, eh?

Off the top of my head Strathfield doesn't have this as a package deal, but I might be wrong.

Check it out at www.strathfield.com.au

It wasnt a package deal... but! I did purchase everything via them, they had it all on special basically, and I had no choice in the matter, despite it hurting my bank account in the process :P

as for amp mounting, yeah ill find a way to fix that asap and make it look better, but it was nifty that i was able to ground via one of the screw i used to mount the wood to the car haha

oh and yes, the front speakers are standard, and somehow... I think theyre gonna have to go soon :P

oh oh oh and before I forget, yes the front aux input is awesome, although I need an excuse to use my CDRW's all my mates that come in my car can just hop in then plug theyre ipods/portable media whatever, and crank out the music, very computer-style "Plug and Play"ish idea which I love ;D

hahaha :D yeah i did alllllll the work myself except for some of the wiring, so a very homebrew job :P
even then I went over to my dads mates place and he did all the crimping and wiring and crap, but hes a professional electrical engineer anyway, so I suppose its not all that bad ;)

Something tells me that if you do the wiring right yourself and your not an engineer compared to an engineer doing it, it's the same :P
