Amazing things
« on: Oct 27, 2006, 02:00PM »
The other morning at about 4.30am in the morning I was driving around my town Maitland and I look up and coming toward me were 6 heavy haulage trucks, 4 carrying concrete support beams for my guess a bridge about 26-30m in length, on the trailers was a driver steering the trailer around the round abouts because they were to long for the truck to steer only. It was one of the most amazing sites I have seen for a while.

The other 2 trucks where carrying about 6 catapillar 973 tyres which probably about 4-6 tonne each. The tyres on the trucks are a common site because the Hunter Valley is all about coal mining. But its just insane seeing all the money from these mines coming down the highway.

Post anything that you found very interesting, cause I am sure other people will find it interesting as well.

I saw a few months ago at 4am, Silverwater road turnoff at the M4, the worlds largest pressure vessle being transported.

Easily 20m in diameter and 45m+ in length, trying to go around a roundabout, but i think it was stuck because it was collecting both street lights (on other sides of the road). Traffic was backed up beyond belief, and there were at least 25 engineers standing around thinking about what to do!!

It was crazy!  :o

Since you specify anything, here's something totally unrelated to your comments, but equally cool:

Hover over the 'Navigation' panel to the left, then click "Imagining the Ten Dimensions".  It's a decent length flash animation explaining a conception of the first ten dimensions, and if you can understand it, it's devilishly simple.  I'm thinking about buying the book!

one night about 1.30am we had an entire house moved down my street. which i thought was unusual cos i thought that they hey to cut them in half. maybe thats why they were moving it in the dead of night. sneaky :P

but yeah it was pretty cool seeing an entire house going at a snails pace past my house :)

The biggest  thing i seen carried by a truck was being towed by three trucks all linked up and two behind, it also had steering on the trailor, it was about four years ago. Also seen in a mag a mack truck pulling about 1.4km's of trailors for a world record attempt, the pulled it 100 meters and got the record.

spoke to ryan on the phone
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

and if someone wasn't cranky at Chr1s for something he said...
