Home Based Major Service
« on: Apr 4, 2003, 08:38PM »
Ok, my Corsair is up for a 'major' service.  Now I want to do as much as possible myself, and maybe all of it, plus I want to learn how to do it all.

Correct me if i'm wrong on these, but I need to get new-

Spark plugs (haven't been replaced since I got the car)
Fuel Filter (i think its the ORIGINAL that came with the car...)
Air Filter

Oil filter was just replaced with an oil change 200ks ago.

Is it possible for me to tune my car at home?  My old man has NFI how to tune an EFI motor, he'd rather stick to his '74 Leyland Marina Six.

Does it also need an injector clean?

Is there anything i've missed that your average major service done at a mechanics would have included?

Thanks all!

It's up to you whether you need an injector clean. As for the other stuff, it's all straight forward. Would only take about an hour to change that stuff.

I'd also inspect and clean any carbon deposits off ur dist. cap and rotor.

If you've got access to an ignition timing light, check your timing too...
Lisa: Dad, we did something very bad! Homer: Did you wreck the car? Bart: No. Homer: Did you raise the dead? Lisa: Yes. Homer: But the car's okay? Bart & Lisa: Uh-huh. Homer: All right then.
