Help with Pulsar CD Deck. It's eaten a CD
« on: Jan 15, 2009, 06:19PM »
Hi, and yes, i searched before posting.

A mate has a N15 Pulsar with a factory CD player, and it's eaten a CD. Is there an easy way to get it out, or should we

a) panic and run around waving our arms and screaming like Muppets?

b) take it to an auto elec/Dealer and get the CD taken out

c) junk the head unit and replace it. This is not the option we'd like to follow.

Ideally, someone knows a trick to get the CD out. Anyone?

Option A sounds good.

Secondly id have a look at the unit, most of them should have a force eject somewhere similar to pc's with maybe a pin hole or something similar.

Is it just not ejecting? is the cd still reading or is it completely stuffed all together?

i don't think it was reading the CD at all. I only had a 5 minute poke around.

I'll have more of a look - i think the deck's fairly easy to remove, though. I'm not about to attempt such a job.

Well if its not reading the cd at all then id say its more likely jammed so force ejecting it may not work.

Depending on the unit you might be able to take it out and take the cover off it to maneuver the cd out.

There's no force eject button on them.

Make sure you have the radio security code first, then pull the radio out, open it up and manually remove the cd.

To get the radio out: remove the panel with the pocket and centre air con vents from the top of the dash (pull it towards the back of the car, it'll unclip) and the panel around the pocket at the bottom of the radio section of the dash. This clips out in the same way as the top panel.

Then you'll see the 4 screws holding the radio brackets in, undo these and you'll be able to pull the radio out.

Easy as :)

if you can hear the eject mechanism whining when you press the button try sticking something thin in there and (carefully) lifting the cd up a little bit while the deck is trying to eject. I find cd's with stomps get stuck sometimes because it makes the disc that little bit fatter.
