In my opinion, there is nothing seriously restrictive about the factory U13 intake.
I have a Finer Filter (Uni filter is the same thing, they bought out Finer filter some years ago....) in my factory airbox and have nothing to complain about. The air is sucked in from just behind the left headlight, so at least it isn't sucking in hot air from your engine bay, which is exactly what the pod filter will be doing!
And by only replacing the factory element with an afternarket one, you are perfectly legal and won't draw attention from the cops if you ever get pulled over and they decide they want to look under your bonnet....

better off with a panel filter dale, otherwise the cold air intake will be sucking in hot air from the engine.

3 things:
- larger piping (must do)
- better flowing air filter /pod filter (a better flowing panel filter without any mods on the piping does little)
- cold air intake (definitely feel the difference)
 ;)

Yes. If you keep the car for a few years, it will pay for itself anyway, as you can clean the filter, not just throw it away like a paper filter.

I disagree with that statement. I put my finer filter in my U13 back in 2000, about 6 months after I bought it and instantly noticed a positive difference in the way the car responded.
No mods to my airbox or piping either. Standard type paper filters are very restrictive.

If you really want a pod filter then get some ducting pipe going.
The black pipe leads into the left fender then down throu some holes and the open end is just behind the front left indicator.

How was the condition of the original standard air filter before the swap to finer filter?
Give the larger piping a go.  :)

I spose if you wanted to you could put the BOMZ intake on, then instead of putting the pod after the maf just get some more piping and run it under the battery/or wherever, then put the pod on,then you"ve got a cai.
I've thought about doing it for mine but its just that shipping is a bitch from the states etc
Just a though anyway.

Perfectly clean. I gave the filter to a mate with a VS commodore (same filter), because the filter was still okay.
