Webber to Renault
« on: Aug 3, 2006, 05:42PM »
I've just heard on ABC Radio that Mark Webber will not be at Williams next year. Rumor has it that he's going to Renault, seeing as how his manager is Flavio Briatore.

I don't know any more details at this stage, but bring it on!

i haven't heard anything other than his contract with williams is up for renewal, and he is prepared to take a pay cut to stay in F1.

Renault are after Kimi Raikkonen.. Webber has 3 possibilities, toyota powered williams (maybe they won't blow up as much... maybe), Mclaren, and then Renault.
If Kimi goes to Ferrari then Webber is a shoe in for Renault. But Mclaren would still be a good option. I also heard from one of the commentators that Red Bull Racing also wouldn't mind Webber.. but I haven't seen that written anywhere on paper.

that said, I know the contract ran out a couple of days ago, but I haven't found any stories saying who's with who yet.

Can't wait till he fucking leaves Williams.

Williams did not pick up the option on Webbers contract, so at the moment, he is definately without a drive.  Renault still have one seat free - and Flavio Briattori is Webbers manager, hence the speculation regarding Renault.

no shit....bloody ford cosworth pieces of crap.

I think Mark will secretly be rubbing his hands together that he is finally free from Williams.

He still should have gone to Renault when he had the chance a few years back.
First a Silver TRX, then a White TRX...whats next? Game Boy-Clear style TRX?

yeah the board is the Grand Prix Drivers Association - kind of like TEGA for V8 Supercars - safety, sporting regulations and stuff like that.

RBR has apparantly offered him a very good deal which he is most likely to take.  Should be a good team next year.

i dare to say they are a good solid unit that cant achieve a gp win ony a 5th - 10th position at the end of the race.

whats better being with a good team with a great history and known success is just aroudn the corner. ie williams who cant seem to finish a race this year.

mind you they wont resign him, so its irrelevant. But, the amount of crap williams got this year is stupid as they are a proven team with history they will come good witha new design etc in 07.

but woudl be good to see Webber at McLaren, highly doubt it but would be good to see :D

oh do you smell Webber = followign the path of a washed up David Coulthard? thats what i think if webber goes to red bull.

Lets see what happens in tonights race, 1030pm ch10 ;)

poor poor webber.

that made him look so much better in everyone elses eyes :P

though I bet you could blame it on not enough downforce on the back tyres.

looks like thats the go, which i am pretty happy with, hopefully RBR can sort out which engine manufacturer will be onboard in '07, hopefully its a ferrari donk, as they seem to be close to the most reliable engine to date, well next to the cosworth unit!!
