Pushbike + Motor
« on: Jul 2, 2008, 02:49PM »
My brother came across a Pushbike with a 2 stroke motor, and it's ended up holidaying at my place.

I'm a little unsure about the oil that I'm supposed to put into it - I'm just using non synthetic 2 stroke.

The bike looks like it's come full factory with motor, not an aftermarket job like the motors from eBay, it's a Fusin - and all i've managed to track down is a Fusin Motorsports company in China - they sell a motor that looks the same, so I'm going by their mixtures.

On the plus side - it's a hoot!

It does about 40 KmH, flat out with a 100kg bloke on board.

Anyone else have any experience with something like this?

you gotta watch the frame so if it cracks[major problems in these things] but there is a forum for thiese things ill ask him what it but a search on google should show it up...

oh and be careful of the loose nut connecting the frame to the handle bars lol

Yeah i have, a YZ250 ah its the ultimate 2 stroke weapon. But i have played around with rigs in my day. I had a 20'' repco fold up bike with a 38cc chainsaw motor, it went alright but it wasnt geared properly probly went around 45-50 kmph. Then in more recent times, i put a 4hp briggs and straton engine on an old 3 wheeled gopher/scooter. Man did this thing move, it was good for about 80kmph and the only brakes were a little lever that rubs on one of the wheels. got a vid somewhere.

haha gotta love it!

the laws in s dont say much about push bikes with motors so yea dunno bout your state but you should be able to play with it a little..best thing for them is a slightly restricted exhaust and lower the compression...

The laws in Victoria are

* Under 200 watts power output
* Must look like a bicycle

or so i'm told.

Yeah here in SA ive heard things like, under 200w and under 49cc or something like that. The old briggsy was 140 odd cc and 4hp. My mate actually got into alot of trouble riding it on the road, it was impounded, he got fined had to go to court, more fines ect. Pretty funny, but not for him.

yea upon further searching, it cant exceed 210W, 112Db, must not exceed 51cc[?], and has to be speed limited to 30 km/h or under...go figure there just pushies with motors...?
but you can run them all week on like $4 of petrol so thats gotta be a plus...!lol

i find the bike quite heavy to pedal without the motor - seems to drag somewhat - could be the single speed gearing, could be the sheer weight of the bike, or my lazy legs.

Just an update.

I knew the deal was too good to be true. Clutch packed it in. Had to go to the small engine repairer. $340 later, i'm looking at some serious time before fuel savings kick in.

I must be crazy. I bought myself an electric one. Gotta pay it off, but i got change out of 350.

It's a Lead Acid (car) battery, and it claims 35 Km/h and 35 Km range. I'll do some tests, once I get the speedo onto it.

I bought the electric bike from K-Mart, and it's a hoot!

20-25KM/H without any pedalling (46 Flat out downhill)

Enough range to get me to the other side of town and back, and a damned sight cheaper than a car.

$425 RRP. That's about 6 week's petrol, but should pay for itself readily enough.
