Any one got any suggestions / pics of where people mount there tweeters in their cars ? I plan to mount tweeters in orignal trims at where the map pocket thing meets the original door pod part facing upwards, really not to sure yet (trx) .

I placed mine on the dash. It would defeat the purpose of having splits to put the tweeters down near the floor. They need be close to ear height. Near the floor the sound will be muffled.

I was thinking by aiming them up or even rigging up some smick kick panels...
I really dont know yet, whoever's idea seems accoustically best will be used

I've put mine on the little triangle trim on inner side of the mirrors. I drilled a hole in the trim for the wiring and used some double sided tape to stick them in place. I thinking that's the best place to put them at.

Oh that's true, I didn't think of that. Yes it's where you have the mirror adjuster on manual mirrors. So you have to have electric mirrors to position tweeters this way.

I think they look tacky mounted on the triangle trim. I put mine on the dash. I just ran the wires down the side of the dash. You can't see them unless the door is open, even then you have to look.

If you want to keep all the wiring and crossovers in the door you could mount them on top of the door trim.

yeah i went out and had a look i think they would go nicely on the top od the door trims, angled back towards driver.

jimbo thats where i have my tweeters, but you can't see any of my wiring even when the doors open. i hid the wiring behind the thin trim that goes around the door arch and then up under the pillar cover (just pull them off)

I did'nt think of that becuase I was in a rush to get them in before dark. It would'nt be worth changing now since the wires are hardly visable.

dont you find that the front right noise is louder and wouldnt creat the right balance though
becuase its cose to you ears than you front left tweeter.

Back when I had my pintara I had 6 1/2 inch PPI splits in the doors....the crossover was mounted on the kickpanel (behind kickpanel on drivers side), woofer in the factory position (but in custom bracket) and the tweeters were countersunk into the top of the doors....see pic below. This worked great as the speakers were decent quality ($350-400 bracket), had adjustable crossovers and I had an equaliser (15 bands L/R) so adjustment was easy so the tweeters weren't to 'bright'. Done bymyself over a weekend. IMHO good spot for em...

I was in shock when I uploaded the pictures from camera. It not nearly as bad as it looks in the photo's, the camera shows up everything and I took these at night with the flash. All that dirt comes from QLD.

My tweeters are in the same spots as FMX's old T. Except not counter sunk... they aim almost directly at the opposite seat at around head height.

but i duno about choppin uo my door trims as when new car arrives i want to move all the stereo over, so im doing a very " surface install " lol if ya get what i mean, minimal modifcations...
looks nice though, definetly an option..

mine are counter sunk int the door just below where fmx's were (in the corner of the vinyl part sunk into the carpeted part)
it's the only spot mine would fit (damn blaupunkt 1" tweeters)

i had a pic up here somewhere but can't seem to find it now

with regards to JIMBO's tweeters... mine have an angled case which would be good to point the tweeter away from the windscreen and towards the middle of the car. Glass is one of the worst materials when it comes to acoustic reverberation.
and might i also suggest drilling holes only as a last resort, selling your car with holes in it is bad

Hey i got pioneer splits with the tweeters on the dash...could show u a pic but dont know how to post them.
