weve got adsl with telstra... i wasnt at all happy with it to start with, but weve sorted out the problems now, and its ok, but there customer service is crap and it takes a long long time to get through to a technician on the phone.

when we had dialup we were with iprimus, and they were great, never had a problem ever!

i swear there was a poll on this issue a while back though :)

i've got TPG adsl, i ran with tpg because they PERMIT you to split the internet between as many computers as you like....

good:

split the internet between 2 computers (soon to be 3)
Easy to setup
Fairly good support considering
Few teething problems with downtime but it was soon rectified.. maybe 1 full day after the first couple of weeks has the net been down

Bad:

setup costs are over 600 from memory
 - $300 - Router Modem (which basically means that it makes it easy to split the net between computers) else there are cheaper modems avail.

 - $160 - Line Setup ( to enable your house phone line to cope with ADSL

 - Must pay 3 months in advance, by creditcard only.

 - $69 a month gets you unlimited downloads and uploads @ 256down/128up speeds
   (there are better prices around)

for more info visit www.whirlpool.com.au (this is basically a broadband internet site

hope this helps,

Chucky

bastard  :P

I'm on 56k dialup with iprimus (iprimus.com.au) and it is fairly good. I regularly get good download speeds for 56k -between 5-6k. And I'm usually connected at 52,000bps. The downsides are obviously not being cable/adsl and getting disconnected every 5 hours.

Go for cable/adsl Roger. But if you do not use the internet much and don't download much either, you might as well stick with 56k. Unless you find a deal in which cable/adsl is cheaper than dial-up.

ive got unlimited telstra cable. i go halves with the rents so it costs me 25 a month...........technical support is reasonably good. works great, no probs
And there's not much I can say
But we miss you every day
And I'm bitter 'cause it's unfair
We'll be drinkin' in the sun
Playing music having fun
Cause one day I'll see you there

well in theory if it was so good u wouldnt need technical support.
