U13 Auto-Man conversion
« on: Dec 20, 2005, 06:52AM »
Hi all,

I'm almost done, but the car won't start and I don't know what wiring I need to sort out to get it working.  I know about the inhibitor relay, but I don't know what wires I'm supposed to ground/cut or whatever.

Help, please!!  ???

Have you taken the inhibitor relay out? Try that before cutting wires. I know in my Ti i have room for the relay its just not there so you shouldnt have any dramas i wouldnt think. I dont know about the U13's though.

The next step is to work out whether you have a spark..... Take a lead off, stick a screwdriver in it and whilst holding onto the plastic handle, hold the screwdriver close to some metal on the car which is earthed. Look for a spark.
If you do have a spark, it's your injection system that isn't operating....

Car kinda runs, it's got a knock sensor error which I'm about to bypass, idles crap at the moment too, getting there fine.  Took it for a short drive and it's boosting crap, but I think that's the knock sensor...

Hah, goosed again!

Forgot to plug in the subloom for the knock sensor/water temp sensor etc so was getting sensor errors and couldn't figure why.  The plug looked the same as the auto box plug hence I thought it didn't need plugging in.  Anyway, got it all going good until I went to drive away on Holiday and the clutch packed up.  I think it's the release bearing as car won't go into gear when it's running and cluch pedal pressed to floor.  Haven't had chance to look yet, but wasn't a happy chappy  :'(
