90 Stanza Engine Swap
« on: Mar 14, 2008, 09:57AM »
Ok so im new here, i have an auto stanza in the states, not a bad car but not great.........i did a search already to find nothing,   Im thinking of swapping out my stock engine and putting in a sr20de from a sentra, i went to the local scrap yard and they have three of these engines, they will need to be re-built but you can get the tranny and engine for under $300 before re building, can anyone tell me if i will need the sentra computer also and what else i might need? Thank i will be looking to have this done by September ish Thanks again!

Backward step.

Convert your KA to manual.

If you're going to swap to SR, put in a DET.

SR20DE, more power (better head design than KA24E)... but less torque produced where it counts versus the 2.4 litre KA

KA24DE would be a great swap for you.  Its DOHC.
I've personally done the swap and can say that its not difficult.  You can keep the stock wiring harness, but will need alteration to fit some plugs on the DE, and the computer will need a chip.  Just easier to swap the whole harness and computer.

Plenty of aftermarket goodies for them in the US too.  So go find a 90's altima.

So go find a 90's altima.

Gen 3 (1993-1997) Altima to be exact.

I also agree that an sr20de is a step backwards  :)

The standard KA24E box will bolt up... however i'm not sure about the wires between box and engine loom (so the ECU knows what gear).  Manual doesnt have that plug so isnt an issue.  Maybe compare your plugs there, you might be lucky.

For the harness, you just need the engine harness.  Thats the one that has the big ECU connector, and injectors... but also you need the section for the starter motor.
Once you have that, its just a bit of cut and solder to wire it up to dash (approx 15 wires).

Hey, I've got a 92 stanza 2.4L KA24E SOHC and was interested in doing a swap as well.  I'd swap in KA24DE of course, so let me know how everything goes, if there are any major issues, etc..  If you can, post of some pics of your progress, would be great to see.  Thanks.
