new member from the USA..
« on: Apr 19, 2008, 06:25PM »
tell me what you think..and what improvements i could do
i've got bi-xenon lamps, s13 wheels, amber fogs, aftermarket antenna [not shown], changed a couple bulbs all around, LED cabin lamp, alpine audio and two 10" subs...and a front lip that i made.

[edit] i also found a TRUST muffler at the junkyard and paid $10 for it! i also got a light reflective tint, police are a BIG problem in my city!

the front shocks got blown and it actually sucked the spring down. i was riding on bumpstops for a week. axles started to click too!
it looked good though xD

i am the second owner of this car..i bought it from my uncle..all i needed to do was replace a few cracked hoses and change the injectors. i also optioned to remove the airbox and install a dry cone filter. more pix will be up in a bit

below is my previous car...which got wrecked..leading me to end up with a U12!

I'm not really looking to go all out with this car. I just want to toy around it for a little while as i am still in college. this is my grocery-getter and my bitch transporter. 4 doors gets you laid more!

please LMK what you think..and i think there are some parts from the g20 [p10-p11] that look similar to the U12

hey mate, good to see some more members from O/S, i was just over in the US about 2 months ago and noticed u13's are really common and u12's are pretty rare.

Ur ride looks pretty schmick! esp those chrome door handles (pretty rare this end of the world)

if ure looking for a bit more cheapish power u can check out this thread. It has all the basics:

yeah, i've been thinking about doing something about the power.
i've got a lot of close friends that have had experience turbo'ing KA's. i actually helped one of my friend build up his ka24DE-T, but he went back to canada to finish school.

the U12 has PLENTY of room in the engine bay, with that said, KA24E-T is a big possibility
i can get a manifold, but everything else has to be custom, oil return for the oil pan, piping, engine management.

my biggest worries are money, time, and if this doesn't come out right...then i'd be stuck. it's my only car and my daily driver. i've also contemplated going to a manual gearbox, but i did a cost analysis and well..it wasn't going to be very friendly to my wallet. i've got the manual s14 seatbelts from my old car, but converting it would mess up the interior aesthetics.

u12's are pretty rare here...a large percentage of them are rusty beaters. on the flip side, every U12 owner that i've met LOVES their car. I have yet to have a passenger that will tell me that my car sucks...

the damn things handles great...although not as good as an S-chassis, it's more practical and comfy.

[edit] oh yea..i also looked at the downpipe from the exhaust manifold, IT'S SO SMALL! like something from a scooter. i might get a pipe welded in place of where that bottle neck is.

car looks good man, as cruizer said nice to have members from all over the joint...
can i just put it to you that if you colour code the rear bar and paint the front lip not only will the car look better but it also visually lowers the car...
but yea look around the site youll find plenty of ideas and inspiration...lol
if there was anything worth reading here youve read it already

Corner lights in aus (unsure about nz) are a white globe that is designed to stay on when the lights are on and you are indicating. Its designed to light up the corner your turning around.

i uhmm...i made it! vinyl edge trim and rivets! it's strong, flexible enough to take abuse, doesn't flex on the highway.
Same material and rivets on the S14 as on the U12. just make sure that you put a little paint over the rivets or they will rust!

noticed the corner lights stuck on, is that a common thing for any other antrx members? and they are orange bulbs?
i did some rewiring when i first got the car because i wasn't satisfied by how it looked at night.
i rewired the corner lamps with the lower side markers...easy job
they did come 'white'...actually they were kind of dim looking. i purchased some silverstar bulbs that appear reflective when not lit.

i'll take some more pictures up-close so you all can get a detailed view

you know what i'm jealous of? you guy's get AWD as an option over there! U12's don't even come with foglights over here.
thank you for the questions and comments

they're call the suicide seatbelts (cos they don't work all that well :P)

when the driver starts the car the top of the seatbelt slides from the a pillar back to the b pillar automatically, thus forcing them to wear the seatbelt.

AWD were an option only in Japan, the ones here were imported.

I don't like the black rear bumper, I'd look about getting it colour coded with the rest of the car if you get the $$$ saved up. and have it so the bottom part of it is still black to match the front lip, but that's just my opinion.

Other than that looks like a good little run-about.

I reckon, never noticed them before, but I was watching TV last night and saw them in action... Really weird the way they work. Just doesn't look right, or comfortable. Kinda looked like it was going to strangle the occupant :o
