1990 TRX auto gearbox
« on: Dec 3, 2018, 08:31PM »
I have had a 1990 Pintara TRX (U12) since 15000k, 28 years. It is in excellent condition except the gearbox is now a box of jelly beans (according to the mechanic). I cannot find a replacement anywhere.

My thoughts turn to an engine/gearbox swap.

Does anyone know of a compatible auto gearbox (RE4F02A) that will bolt in or a suggested combo engine/gearbox swap; preferably bolt in.

Mechanically my car is excellent. I replaced the springs, shocks, bearings, aircon compressor, evaporator, under dash heater box, only a couple of months ago. The starter and alternator are likewise pretty new. It has 205/55R15 tyres and fake knockoff mags. I was really looking forward to pinning the "Veteran" badge to the bumper.

Thanks in advance.

Go for a u13 bluebird if you can find one.

Thanks Colby.

I believe the KA24E and KA24DE are externally physically the same but I don't know what gearbox is fitted. From what I have read the KA24 series can withstand monstrous boost so it would be nice to go that route.

Do you know what auto gearbox the U13 used?
